Presonus Firestudio 2626 Price Drop?

Anyone notice this unit dropped in price by $100 sometime in the last month? The were $699 and now they are $599.

Are these units being discontinued? They are still listed on Presonus' site, but they are dropping from online retailers websites. For instance:

PreSonus FireStudio 26x26 Firewire Recording Interface at FrontEndAudio.com

With OSX 10.7 so close it would be a shame to buy one and have it not compatible with the next gen Macs and OSX.

I contacted Presonus and they said:

Hi James,
Thanks for contacting PreSonus! The FS 26x26 has been discontinued but we will continue to update the driver because it uses Universal Control like our StudioLive boards and other FireStudio products.

Kind Regards,
Johnny

If you don't need ADAT i/o the FireStudio Project is cheaper.

What if you DO need the ADAT in? Are they going to replace the 2626 with anything else?

i've had one sitting in a box for a year now - just took it out a few days ago - went adat out into a digi 003r running W7 - bang!!! didn't install any presonus software - nothing - just worked with PT9 and w7, and my trusted 003r

(i've did hook up the fs wordclock i/o to the 003r)

now for the fun....freaking great pre's on the FS - damn fine - bought mine as 'new b stock' on ebay for $462

i've got a focusrite mkii that i'm now thinking - looks cooler - but ain't working as well with my 79 strat direct

my golden age beats it....but that's one pre (i only own 1 GA 73)...in a world of multiple simultaneous input needs - thank god for the fs

a tad off topic - but man - i wish i knew it was gonna work this well with my fav axe

i'll try some vox thru her next week...let you know if i still love her then

i'll go now (ha ha)
