Logic 8 midi - quantizing releases

This has me baffled.
I have searched far and wide for an answer to this question.

Is it impossible to quantize releases in midi?

So many times I am in need of this to prevent overlapping on certain sounds. I use this function in pro tools all the time...

Just use the transform function on the piano roll tab.

you want them ending earlier than that in many circumstances. otherwise you have no release phase in the sound.

quantizing the end might be good in many cases, unless you played something manually. in which case the release holds
a lot of the expression. altering the note length gate time in Logics parameters section should alter the length equally.
but those values are quite course.

hence where the Transformer window comes in.

but at any rate, if the release is right on the start of the next note the start of the next note masks the release
and the release masks the start of the next note.

I just set 'note length' to fixed, normalize, then either ...

1 use 'note length' to set the desired .....er.... note length

or

2 just go to the matrix, select all & drag them to the desired length

( or use transform as described )
