Installed LE on same comp. as TDM... got a few weird things happening now.

So I'm running a Mix + plus rig on Mac OS 9 and I had tried to install my LE software in OS X so I could tweak some stuff with my 002 rig that I use for remote recording. Well, everything still runs fine, but all my Pro Tools files say they are LE 6.7 files and they have the newer LE icon now. I uninstalled the LE software but it didn't fix it. I have more of a Windows background, so certain simple tasks on Mac confuse me... on PC, if you want to open certain file types with a different application, there's a menu you can go to. How do I do this with Mac? Also, even though it's not a big deal really, how can I get the icon back to normal? Thanks.

So you are using a OS 9 and a OS X setup? Is it a dual-boot?

OS 9 has been ages ago, can't really help you there. So this is a common procedure for OS X, but I am not sure if this will work if you don't have a dual-boot system with both OS X and OS 9 installed because then you won't have the older icons available. You can copy one at a time, but that's offcourse not the solution to your problem.

There's some ways to change icons, but those go deep in the system level and you don't really want to mess with it unless you know what you're doing.

This is the simple way. Select one of the audio files you want the icon from then press command-i, you'll get the info dialog. Here you can select the icon and copy it, select another file and paste it in the info dialog.

If you want to change all your audio file icons to another icon. Select an audio file with the wrong icon, go to the info dialog and change the application you want to use to open the file. It will probably say PT 6.7 now, change this this to another app and you'll see the icon change, if you want all those type of files to be changed press "Change all" underneath it.

Yeah, it's a double boot system... I never upgraded PT's because I'm comfortable with my setup, can get good sounds, and have plugin's that I can't afford to upgrade right now. I'll mess around and see if I can't fix it.

Ok Geert, thanks for your help thus far, but the weirdness continues. I restarted in OS X and checked out my Pro Tools folder and audio files, and they are all using the original OS 9 icon and are setup to open with the old version of Pro Tools, even though I obviously cannot open it in OS X. However, in OS 9 they are still saying they are LE 6.7 documents and using the LE icon. I guess it's really not a big deal as the files will open just fine if I open them from the older version of Pro Tools, but I guess that it's just irking me a little. I have no idea why it would be like that, especially considering that LE isn't on the computer in anyway now. Oh well, any OS 9 experts out there have any thoughts? Thanks.

Hey there.

I dual boot into OS9 & OSX and use PT on both OS systems.

What I did was create a partition on my external drive. I labeled 1 as OS9 & the other OSX.

This way when I work on OS9 files - they get saved back into the OS9 partition - same with OSX.
