Thread Starter | Hi, I'm using an 18" monitor right now and I'm thinking of upgrading. Is it better to have one hugh monitor and many smaller ones? Thanks, Ian |

| It is simply a preference. That is my current setup, although I do want to upgrade to a second 23" soon. I currently have a 23" for my main screen and a 17" off to the side as a sort of "sidecar" monitor. I like the wider aspect when looking at the editing windows in ProTools or Nuendo. It doesn't really bug me to have a small screen for the mixing windows as much, so sometimes I'll put that onto the 17". A buddy of mine has the 30" from Apple, and for me it was very hard to look at. I often times lost where the mouse was, I had to turn my head to look from one side to the other . . . . so I guess there is such a thing as a screen that is "too big". I like the Apple screens, but Dell I hear makes some good ones at decent sizes too for much cheaper. Dante |

Thread Starter | That makes sense. So you're saying that having the separate monitors actually gives your eyes a framework. Ian ![]() |

| I've got a 19" at the moment... the ideal for me would be two of em. One for the arrangement and whatnot, the other for the mixer and plugs. Even at 1280x1024, I'm always moving crap around, losing windows and whatnot. Kind of miss just looking down and seeing where the faders/meters are at... they have control surfaces and all that now, but buying another monitor is a lot cheaper than buying a $1000 fader box. As far as size, I wouldn't go below 19", nor above 21". |

[edit] You're right, Dell does sell the Double Sight monitors for much cheaper. Thanks. [edit] | |
