Thread Starter | Autotune Audiosuite shortcut... am I ********?
I've contemplated for a while now whether or not to post this finding here. I have a feeling I've stumbled clumsily onto a documented feature that I just never took the time to read, but in case I hadn't it's too good not to share: When using Autotune offline via Audiosuite in PT, in graphical mode, my former method was to select my region, hit "track pitch" then hit "preview" to load the waveform into Autotune. This is painful for singers to sit and listen to a dry, solo'd version of their messed-up phrase, and very time consuming (realtime) Then the other day I accidentally hit "process" instead of "preview" and noticed the waveform loaded offline very quickly as it processed. I hit ctrl-z to undo my processing, and the waveform was still there, ready to edit.... Clouds part, ray of light, angels singing, etc. So, documented or not, I offer this tidbit up to all fellow Gearslutters too lazy to read plugin manuals (I swear I read all hardware manuals front to back... but software I'm lazy... hmmmm). It really saves hours and hours of work when doing a day of tuning. And the mere fact that you don't have to break your flow and listen to a horrible phrase out of context allows you to stay focused and, I think, do a better job of tuning. So, am I ******** or do I have company? |

Good tip!, sounds more like a workaround then a documented feature, but when they wrote it in the manual, it must be the latter, Thanks |

Just to be clear, make sure you undo the initial "load-in processing" or else you'll get crap results and a bin full of unused regions. Strange how autotuning an already-autotuned phrase results in severe mangling, even if you didn't alter anything the first time. Also, anyone ever notice how low-level details (i.e. room noise) seem to be "flatlined" after AT processing, even on parts of the phrase you left untouched? This doesn't seem overly obvious to the ear, but you can easily see it in the waveforms. Hmmmm |
