digidesign HD and built in G5 Output

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to play Itunes out of the Built in optical of a G5 while protools is open?

Click on system preferences, click on sound, and select output. There should be a list with 2-3 choices.
1: Internal Speakers
2: Digital output (optical)
3: Digidesign Hardware (maybe)

Select digital output.

On a somewhat realated note, Digis Core Audio is notoriously horrible with logic, especially if you have an 002 at home like I do. I got so sick of Logic crashing, not to mention switching between between logic and PT and having to quit one and start another(what can I say, I'm ADD and work quickly between multiple projects on both). Anyway, A lot of people i know suggested that I take the outputs of logic and hook them into the 002 for monitoring...It's great and I havent looked back. I easily switch between PT and Logic, no downtime, and all my mac sounds and Itunes and things I listen too on the internet come throught breat.

Bottom line, digi core audio for PT, Mac computer outs patched into 002 for monitoring else.

Hold on I'm stuck on a G4, So there's a digital out on a G5?

SO I can route this to my ptools to have peak play while ptools is open?
