anyone using psp stereo enhancer?

I'm considering this bundle and would like to hear from some real-world opinions.

how much do you use it, really? does it alter the timbre of your mixes, spread things outside the speakers, or both?

I've been a big PSP fan for ages. I use the Stereopack but not on full mixes, I think it does 'too much' to the image for that. You might like it - it certainly does the stereo expansion well, with a little of the PSP character thrown in.

Also look at the MixPack, they're the best native compressors imo

Speaking of PSP MixPack, here's a cool trick I've been using for phat bass tones w/ Mix Bass. Set the Process frequency to the key of the song, using this here frequency chart I lifted from the Crane Song website. It's for the Ibis eq.

So if the song is in C and I want phatty bass, I set the Process control to a center frequency of 130 Hz (it's 131Hz on the chart). Hit the Compression a few db, then adjust the Mix control to taste. I often set it at 50% for the parallel compression effect.

The Mix Bass 'Process' creates harmonics, so I figure it can't to hurt to have the harmonics in tune with the song. Seems to work so far. I turned the Ibis chart into a pdf. Hope Dave doesn't mind. Here it is.

yeah! I love the mixpack. just got it recently and have been really enjoying it-- surprised I haven't heard more about it. these are inexpensive, aggressive plugins.

they're dangerous because it's so easy to go too far. but adding a little flavor here and there has been perfect for my mixes.

what stems do you use it on? what does too much sound like?

guess I should download the demo....

hell, the whole bundle is only $49!

well, if its distorting then its too much But I love that these are plug-ins that you can drive hard and get some real character out of. The Mixpressor gives a nice sustain to stuff as the release kicks in, for that reason I love it on accoustic guitars and keys.. bass as well. I also use it on individual drums. Mixpressor and Mixtreble sound very nice on snare drums..

Hell, I use it on pretty much everything
