Where to find free string samples?

Hey!

I need some string sounds, cause the ones on my Triton doesn't exactly sound like the real thing.

I'm not in the mood for paying a fortune for Halion String Edition, so I'm trying to find some free samples that I can use with my Halion sampler.

Anyone know where I can find some useful string sounds?

Hey brother Frequency...check the site. Do a search for free plugins, there have been some AMAZING threads here that highlight numerous cool sites with great info and generous people.

Alot of developers love to share thier cool plugins and VSTi's, Samples etc. Lot's of interesting shareware stuff as well.

Here are a few from my own collection. They may lead you to some samples.

That's very helpful!

And thanks for your never failing positivity!

Kudzu, you need a hug and some cheering up.

No problem, Kudzu!

I do buy gear, plugs and stuff, but sometimes it's just fun to check out freeware.
Besides, I don't have the cash right now. ;-)

Rodney, so far I've downloaded Kjærhus-plugs and I can't wait to try them out!

Cool links Rodney.

I'm actually interested in finding some good quality samples of a wooden marimba. I'd pay a few bucks even if the samples were nice. Do any of you gearslutz have one you could record?

Good quality samples of various orchestral samples including strings can be found here

http://theremin.music.uiowa.edu/MIS.html

You will have to map them yourself in your sampler of choice

Think of it as the poor mans VSL

Greetings Frequency. Rodney gave some good links. Regarding quality strings, you wont find much for free. Part of the reason is it takes so much time, effort, and money.

I wish the Vienna Symphonic Orchrestra were free, but it just aint, and I understand why.

Hey Rodney!

I'll be forever grateful for those links!

The Digital Fishphones plugs are amazing!! I immidiately fell in love with the compressor! Wow!! Can't believe it's free. Amazing.

The Kjærhus stuff is great as well, so thank you so much!

Funkynuts, those samples sound very usable, but I haven't had the time to download it yet. But I will!

Have a great day, all!
