There is a separate instrument editor app that creates the trigger files using whatever sample configurations you choose. It's very easy to use but is not a part of the plug itself.

I was JUST trying to figure this out 2 days ago. Yes the editor is downloadable from slatedigital.com. Free as far I know. It took me a couple seconds to figure it out, but seems somewhat straight-forward. I wonder if there's a manual for any of this stuff?

If you bought Slate Trigger on DVD, the instrument editor will be on the DVD.

It's very simple and I've made loads of drum kits in the last few months, recording samples of friends' kits, editing in Logic and mapping in Slate Editor.

If you want it quick & easy, just drag and drop the file into Trigger

I've done it before with a straight out .wav, but you obviously don't get any dynamics then. But for a quick/easy solution, yeah it works. Just chop up your .wav and throw it in your sample directory, Trigger will see it.

Have you tried the same browser you use to load standard Slate's samples?

Isnt there a browser button? Click that & then choose the folder where your sample is at on your hard drive. You'll be able to click through the wave samples to audition them.

Don't forget to lower the threshold knob to actually trigger the sample. I use Trigger on an audio track w/ audio on it. Works like a charm!

Good point as it kind of defeats the advantage of multisample realism, but I guess you can get away with it on something like a kick drum for certain types of music or simple one shot stuff.

Another crazy thing. Sometimes the triggered sound won't sound lined up w/ the audio that's triggering it. A few times I had to try moving the audio back or forth a lil to get it to sound right layered on top of the sound I was layering it with. Usually don't have to do this tho. Other than that Trigger has been a lifesaver during mixing for layering the right drum samples on top of some weaker ones or ones that just need a lil additional help that simple EQ, compression, or any other processing won't help.

Using Pro Tools HD. I think its cuz i can hear the beginning of the transient on the triggered wav file appear to sound a lul off compared to sound i'm layering it on top off. I know it being triggered on time ( w/ no latency) but sometkme sounds dont merge perfectly together. Like i said, this happens rarely & after a lil massaging forwards or backwards they lock in tighter together.
