Apple laptop battery recall/exchange.

If you purchased an Apple laptop within the last couple of years this is worth looking into.

https://depot.info.apple.com/battery...x.html?lang=en

These puppies aren't cheap. If you have a battery included on this list it's worth exchanging.
Filled out the info on Apple's website Friday 12/23. Replacement arrived today...Tuesday 12/27.

Make sure you do this. I didn't know about this recall and the battery ran so hot that it ended up over the course of a year and a half burning up my video section of the motherboard and caused it to fail. Repair price? $800.00 replacement with a new g-4 ibook? $1000.00. I am typing this on my new Ibook!!!!!

Thanks Apple.

This has been on the Apple site for a while, but let's make this a sticky for a couple of days so everybody who didn't know about this can look if their batteries need to be replaced before their precious machines get fried.

Don't forget about the 15" powerbook white spots on the screen recall.

You are right! There are a couple exchange programs running...

it's a good thing to check this site regularly.

When Apple announced this exchange I had purchased a battery fairly recently. I was getting a good charge and wasn't overly concerned with the heat/fire thing. However, that battery didn't make it to a year before it pooped out. So, this has come in handy.

I've seen those mac batteries melt some cables before. They get HOT, especially around the connector. I'd think an exchange would be a good idea, if it's going on now.
