Thread Starter | "breakout box" for PCI-cards?
I have a HP laptop and I'd like to be able to use the M-Audio 1010 LT sound cards I have. The obvious problem is that they're PCI cards and they don't really fit in a laptop, so I'm looking for some kind of "breakout box". I don't know if it exists, I haven't seen one anyways. I'm looking for something that I can put the PCI cards into and hock it up to the laptop via USB 2.0 or FireWire. I don't even know if it's possible but if anyone has heard of anything like it, please let me know!

I don't think this works via usb or firewire but it connects to the cardbus. http://www.mobl.com/expansion/produc...ion/index.html |

This is what I've learned so far: There are options but they're not cheap. The ProTools HD interface is just that, more or less and there are other systems that work alike. To get a clean "PCI Breakout box" you have to start looking at stuff like the Magma (linked above). I was looking for a cheap solution for my laptop in a small project studio but thats obviusly out of the question. There is no cheap solution to this problem. |
