How much better is BFD than the Reason drum kits within Reason 3?

Wow... all I can ask of you is to hear samples of them both. BFD is more for rock, jazz, etc... while reason has a large sample set of drums that can be used for many things.

Personally I stopped using reason a long time ago and I think the drum refills included are very lo-fi but at the time I was using it they got the job done.

I don't use BFD regularly but I have used it at a friends house and it sounds absolutely amazing, the layering, the texture, the different mic setups. WOW, if you want real sounding drums then BFD is the way to go, BUT make sure you have a fast CPU cause the program is damn CPU HOG.

Totally agree. I shavent used Reason since 2.5 and the sound was really crappy and muffled.

BFD no contest!!

Both so different it is imposable to compare, I have used both BFD and reason a great deal and I have been pleased with both. If I want a real drumkit sound it has got to be BFD, but reason can create sounds BFD (standalone) could never create.

So BFD when it comes to creating a "real" drum sound is infinatly better, BUT reason has many bells and whistles that make it a great tool for Drum track.
