| Backup Solutions Hey all, This month in Mix magazine they had an article about backup solutions. It couldn't have come at a better time for me as my studio is in the process of trying to find a solution that fits us. So, I was wondering what other studios are doing out there for backup. Do you backup to tape? Raid systems? Just copying to another drive? Whats up? It would be nice to see how the system is working for you and what problems or bonuses there is to doing it the current way that you do things. Thanks David |

In a multi machine environment I would suggest backup to raid for "unique files" and perhaps a DVD image for bare metal restore. By unique I mean audio/video data and settings. The raid could be backed up to DVD or AIT-4 tape in a background time frame. For the average Joe a DVD rewriter would suffice. An image on DVD for system restore (apps and such) and then use the drive for data. A program like Nero now has good backup software included. Otherwise there's a ton of Freeware (gnu if you please) available. Hey, but I didn't read the article, just putting my two p in for good measure. -jzb | |

| DVD. Unless you have hellacious data going to backup. DVD is cheap and solid. Caveat; I don't run a pubic studio but it works for me. |
