Lame question but, Can I use a gateway monitor with a mac G5?

Hi, I might get a new mac and have a nice gateway monitor, can I use a PC monitor with a mac? Are they all the same, connection wise?

Thanks

Yeah, you can.

The G5 will have a DVI output, and the gateway, depending on it's age, might have a VGA input. In this case, just get a DVI to VGA adapter from your local electronics store.

I just checked, the monitor is from august 2001.
However, I looked at the cord and there is one pin missing in the center...So I guess it won't work, Or what?

it probably came with a pin missing. Some monitors come without pins in some spots. If it works with a computer now, you're golden (unless you see the "missing" pin in the current computer vga hookup).

top one is DVI, bottom one is VGA.

it's ok if there are pin's missing, as long as it works, like the poster above me posted.

Some companies don't use all the pins. I wonder if this has anything to do with the management being "a few pins short of a full connection". :)

I just bought a used G5 single 1.8 and I can't get it to work with either of two old old vga monitors with the adapter.

Am I missing something?

Maybe it is the computer. Fortunately it still is under apple care.
