Idea for new set-up

I have about 1000 bucks to spend....this is what I'm thinking for my new setup.

Alraedy Own
-Aardvark Q10
-Range of mics

Thinking of getting
-M-audio BX5 monitor pair
-M-audio DMP3 Dual Mic Pre
-FMR RNC
-Cubase Sx3 or Ableton Live 5...(using Sonar demo right now;-)

I'm really torn between live and cubase...Honestly, I'm aiming for a small home project studio that is capable of recording solo artists to full bands. Since I only have about 1000 bucks I'd rather not hear...."If I were you I'd buy this 1000 follar mic instead"...I'm just curious if this set-up sounds alright and if there are any budget friendly ideas or software thoughts or whatever. I've made a few recordings with what I already have, and believe that if I had some more gear it would help the creative process as well as improve the recordings. I've tried to include a few recordings I did with my current set up (q10, sonar demo, and lots and lots of plug ins!)

i have the bx5s..not amazing monitors, but I learned them and now my mixes are very balanced...if you can get bx8s, you would probably be better off. If you don't have a ton of cash, I think KRKs and the Maudios are good options. I'd rather have KRKs, but they were a little out of my range at the time. My next monitors will probably be the HR824s.

I use Cubase SX..I checked out Live, wasn't feeling it. Cubase is great for me, but it took me a while to find out what I needed. Now I have Cubase, and I am making a lot of music, and not trying to figure out how to do this and that all the time.

Some people like Live, its just personal. I hated it, Live seems like it is geared to DJs who produce..it isn't, but that's the vibe I get from it.

In the end, it boils down to personal opinion and what allows to you turn on your DAW and start banging out a song the easiest.
