Question "Best" software for two track acoustic/classical recording/editing

Is there a commonly accepted "best" software or DAW, or at least a "most popular" software for recording and editing two track stereo acoustic or classical music?

Just wondering if I am missing any info on this subject.

Thanks!

Depends if you're on PC or Mac. On PC the big hitters for classical are SaDie and Sequoia. On Mac the most popular 2-track editor is probably Peak. I do almost all classical and I use Logic Pro 7.1. It's probably an unusual choice for this but it's what I'm used to!

Sequoia is said to have features that are tailored to working with classical music, whatever that means. I have found PC DAW programs to be rather unintuitive, so I'm using Logic Pro as well. Mixing a jazz record with it right now.

If you're on Mac, you should check out DSP Quattro too. Some people prefer it to Peak, and it's much more affordable.

For two track you may consider the native version of Pyramix along with Samplitude and Sadie.

bove...
if your on pc.....check out the demo of what i use.
powertracks from pgmusic.com.
very inexpensive.....if you doubt me...talk to other powertracks users on the pg forum. the sound quality will not be determined by the software but the quality of digital convertors in the sound card you use with it.
be open minded...and try the demo. then...if not happy that it fits your needs/way of working try some other excellent products here cited.

Thanks for all the advice so far!

I am on PC.

An awesome engineer I have worked with uses Pyramix, so I was going to check that out... but it's great to have a bunch of others to look at!

I will not have an unlimited budget for this... so I may not be able to get any program I want, but I am going to look at as many as I can, so that I can make an educated decision.
