Thread Starter | 2010 iMac 2.93GHz Quad i7 + Kontakt 4 (MIDI Question) UPDATE: Mods can delete this thread. Sold the G5 and use PT9 for MIDI sequencing now. No more networking macs issues. Hi. If someone could please help with my MIDI setup. ![]() I have a stock 2010 iMac i7 that I'm using as a Kontakt 4 slave MIDI device being controlled from my old PPC G5/OSX Tiger 10.4.7 via ethernet and the OSX built-in MIDI network connection. Everything is working perfect, but I'm monitoring K4 through the iMac's headphone out + internal speakers. Obviously not an ideal monitoring situation. I'm trying to avoid buying an interface for the iMac and I'm happy with MIDI sequencing on the G5/PT7 machine for the moment, although I'm considering Reaper or Logic for the iMac. 1. Would there be unusable latency or any other problems with monitoring/printing the K4 audio out of the iMac's built-in SPDIF digital outs straight into the SPDIF inputs of my master G5/PT7 interface? 2. I'd need a minijack-SPDIF (optical) adapter and a SPDIF optical-SPDIF coaxial converter... M-Audio CO2. Has anyone used this little guy and does it add any latency?!? ![]() Thanks! -Bruno |
