General Protools/interface question

Hi,

New user here...just need something cleared up. Can you pretty much make any interface work with protools (versions 6-7 for example).

Just curious because I am about to get pt7, but was wondering what the deal was with the m audio version.

I have an m audio interface now, but plan to upgrade in the future (to a non m audio card), so I dont know if its wise to get the m audio version.

Also, lets say I do get regular pt le 7 (non m)- when I upgrade to a better interface, be it rme, lynx, echo, mytek or whatever, are they all compatible with protools le, or are there some that may not be compatible that I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance

Pro Tools M-powered only works with M-audio interfaces.

Pro Tools LE only works with Digidesign manufactured interfaces, currently Digi002 and Mbox 1 & 2

Pro Tools HD only work with Digidesign HD hardware.

Geert is spot on with the hardware.

I have only one thing to add : Pro Tools free works with no hardware at all ...

Of course you're kinda stuck to OS 9 and windows 98

It also works with some Apogee hardware (AD-16X, DA-16X, Rosetta 200, Rosetta 800) as long as you have they X-HD expansion card.

You're right, forgot about those, but.... that's for PT HD only.
