It seems that you are also confused about it.

DECAPITATOR, despite it's name is not a distortion but a saturation plugin.

As SoundToys call it : "Analog Saturation Modeler".

It can distort too due to it's PUNISH feature, but at first it's a saturation plugin.

Decapitator is, let's say, strong, whereas Juice is aimed at subtle. That said, the Juice models will be different from the Decapitator's ones and "better" dixit SoundToys : "We learned so much developing the modeling technology that’s in Decapitator, and plan to take it even further with Juice".

Not to mention that Juice is aimed a being used on every track/channel, instead of Decapitator, which is not a "put it everywhere and forget" kind of plugin. Juice is after all, an "Analog Input Channel" plugin, so that makes sense.

Well, there is no comparison. Two different beasts, not the same purpose.

Slate Digital VCC is aimed at emulating the whole analog console summing behaviour. It's not just an "analog channel input" plugin. That's why you have to use 2 plugins together, one on each channel and one on the master.

You're one of those confused guys I talked about. Or maybe you're giving words a different meaning.
For example, while urs saturation is saturating , decapitator is not the same thing, its build to be used more as an effect, distorting and gritting things up. I definetely wouldn't call it the usual (subtle indeed) saturation and transient softening some analog units provide.
According to soundtoys: "Our plug-in was built out of abused and tortured analog gear, and is meant to be used as a not-so-subtle effect."

Yep, that's what I'm saying.

Yep, that's what I'm saying. Decapitator is one thing and juice is another. I wouldn't call em both "saturators".

Well, there definetely is a comparison. Two beasts emulating analog mojo. Vcc is a complete console emulation while juice will be emulating the sound of analog units including the input mojo of famous consoles.
It's kinda "weird" that you don't see any connection, I guess to you it's like comparing a compressor with an eq.

All you did was trying to explain to me things I already know well, only put in a confused and untraditional way, while failing to see the connection of two products.

Cheers

yes quite. at the end of the day - its pretty obvious Juice is a direct competitor to VCC - seeing as the end result will likely be very similar...

Could you imagine how many UAD2 cards you'de need to put a 'console input channel' plugin on EVERY track of a modern production? Then.... if you wanted to actually use a Fatso or two.. 33609.... I just don't think it's a feasable scenario unless it's a Native solution. But... I've been wrong before..

haha..thats exactly what word I would use.. Semitics.

But then I thought its about whatt distortion or saturation even means.

Primarily a Saturation device? Saturation is mainly related to tape being overloaded--hence the name(oh crap..I said hence)

Saturation is a cause and distortion is the result. You cant have something Just saturated as its a type of distortion.

Decap clips on every mode that I checked and that my friends is the very definition of distortion. Obviously saturation will also leave out some frequencies..mostly highs(like a sponge that holds no more water---hence the name saturated) insert gunshot--as I said hence again

After these posts, "Juice" seems like an awfully inappropriate name for a plugin.

But you gotta name it after a classic movie. That only leaves Juice, Heat, The Professional or Mary Poppins.

Two and a half months already....
Well at least Soundtoys didn't start this thread.
It looks like another loooooong pre-release party.

Juice is all well and good... but where's the update to fix the Native Bundle's many GUI problems. When will we get that update? It's been months now. That's what I'm interested in.

Again... where are the updates for Native Bundle that were supposed to be in beta testing weeks/months ago? The Native Bundle runs horribly on Win7 x64 and Sonar 8.5 x64. Soundtoys seems to have gone quiet on the subject. I thought they were better about supporting their products than this.

Any news on the "juice" plugin?

I'm really wondering what we'll see first. "juice" or "VCC (final, non-beta)" for public purchase. I'm doing alot of mixing coming up in December and I'd sure love to have one of these in my arsenal. Hopefully at the VERY least, SoundToys will offer up a standard 14 day iLok demo and not have any 'dropouts'.

yeah. i've been checking this thread from time to time hoping there is some news on the noise burst bug but so far it's silent. hopefully that means they are just working very hard to sort out the problems.
