| Gear maniac | +1 for the horse - would be nice if the horse's head moved slightly when the knobs were moved and if it whinneyed / neighed when the audio clipped. |

| i hope this will be a 'so subtle, you can slap it on every channel' plugin. for strong saturation, i use decapitator. for more subtle saturation, urs saturation. and i hope this plugin will work for saturation you hardly notice on a single track. you should be able to feel it more than hear it... until you hear what it does to 30 channels simultaneously, and are blown away. as such, i can do without any filtering. of course it would be handy, but conceptually, it's part of a different plugin. like the new upcoming soundtoys eq, have you heard about that? ![]() i just hope soundtoys take into account that not everybody is mixing towards 0dbfs, especially those looking for a better way to mix itb (which would also be the ones interested in a plugin i described above). personally, after reading another great thread here on gs, i've started to trim all the peaks on my channels down to -12dbfs. i really enjoy the headroom, but i already found that a few plugins that use level dependent saturation, (like psp squad) hardly add what they're supposed to add. so i hope soundtoys allow the user to set an operating level. (also for the metering, which i hope will be true vu) i would probably put a trim plugin first on all my channels, followed by juice (or vcc) and then eq/comp of choice. of course, the trim plugin could also go second, removing the need for a selectable operating level. but i'd rather have juice work at any level. |

| in case you haven't read it, here's the gs thread i was referring to: The Reason Most ITB mixes don’t Sound as good as Analog mixes (restored) just read the first post, that's all you need to know. this is why i use a trim plugin and why it should be the first in a plugin chain. you trim the level so that your compressors, etc. supposedly work better. just as with hardware, where gear expects a certain level. this might be yet another digital myth, but i don't think it's a weird idea to bring analog level practices into the digital world. you won't have to fight digital meters in the red anymore, that's for sure. what bothers me, is that the ideal operating level for squad seems to be nearer to 0dbfs than i want to go. so i think they should either choose a lower operating level or let the user set the operating level. and i'd like juice to work similarly. with analog, we have a standard (-10 or +4). unfortunately we don't in digital. so of course i could put the trim plugin after squad, but that means all the plugins before squad will work above their ideal operating level. i've already made an ableton effect rack that automatically boosts the level before a plugin and attenuates the same amount after the plugin. (very much like how decapitator works) but this goes much deeper than just finding a simple workaround. this is about level practices in the digital world and standard operating levels. i doubt that we will ever have a standard (too many people mixing in too many different ways on digital), but a user-set operating level on plugins should be possible. |

| Fellas we gotta get back on topic here. This thread is for the Juice! Personally I think the Juice blows the crap out of PSP on vocals... This is just based on the screen shot of course. But some days Juice just pisses me off and I have to put her in time out. Anyways, yeah. And if you're having trouble making a beat, or don't know how to EQ a kick or bass, or if your mix needs help, or if you want to know which limiter is the best for mastering... try the Juice! I did, and I lost 30 lbs in three weeks. |

| Does anyone have the same "white noise" problem that I have? When using a SM57 it seems to me that there is a nasty hiss at 5k on the German Tube

| I think that we should at least be happy to know that it's coming. As we know that SoundToys has also vintage equalizers coming after and so on... The release date being without a doubt : when it's done .Good things take time, great things even more . |

| MellowMuse Guys this is not just a 2 horse race. Mellowmuse also have a saturation plugin coming out which funnily enough models 4 units as opposed to 5 from Juice and 6 from the Slate. However, Mellowmuse are also including high quality tape built in to the saturation along with channel saturation. All looking good for itb at this time. |

![]() I wish they'd at least chime in every now and then and tell us what they had for breakfast. Or maybe show us a picture of a blanket. All this anticipation of digital warmth is actually giving me the chills. I need a hug. A Sound Toys hug. | |
