Alternatives for Waves plug-ins

Hi all,

Waves lost me today with their WUP , I mean, I just don't get it.
But anyway...

What are good alternatives for:

L1
S1
Supertap
Renaissance compressor

I'm using PT HD3 btw.

Thanks,

Bart-Jan

Renaissance compressor--> Bombfactory LA2A/LA3A, Universal Audio LA2A or URS 1970

Supertap --> EchoBoy from Soundtoys

L1 --> Sony Oxford Limiter

S1 --> ehm...?

Great question. I've been phasing out (bad pun, sorry) Waves for the past year.

EchoBoy is far ahead of SuperTap in every way. That's easy.

I've played around with other alternatives for RenComp, but haven't exactly replaced it yet. Unfortunately, it's still very good at what it does. I'd expect TriTone Digital's yet-to-be-released comp (SqueezeTone) to be a replacement. Otherwise, maybe URS, as already mentioned.

Not yet sure about the others. I'm curious to see what everyone else will say.

Your running Hd3 setup, there are some really cool plugs for that system,
Pt plugs have really come a long way from when I first had them,

I really dig Maxim if you like the L1, the new PT EQ is getting sweeter sounding.
Oxford is a good one , but they do a small price up as well ( Not AS bad)

L1 = Sony
S1 = buy only this plug from Waves
Supertap = Eventide delays
Renaissance compressor = Sony

Definitely the sonalksis comp kicks the living crap out of ren comp in every way.
I believe psp has a good s1 alternative, as well as the psp84 delay which kills supertap.
I second the W1 for free, it sounds exactly the same as the L1.

Waves replacements

Check out the PSP 608 Multi-delay. I would get it over the PSP84. I have both.
Voxengo has nice limiter in Elephant--great price. Voxengo has some nice compressors, although there are so many it is overwhelming to choose.
Check out PSP Vintage Warmer for a coloring compressor. (Multi-band)
Check out Elemental Audio's Neodynium, an interesting type of compressor.
