firewire drive data corruption - os9 to osx hi there. i remember reading ages ago about problems with firewire drives when osx was released. people who were upgrading from os9 were losing data and drives were getting corrupted when they plugged into an osz machine.... does anyone remember the fix for this?? i'm looking at upgrading (yep i'm still on os9) and i don't want to stuff my drive.

i didn't experience the problem. but, in any case, get Disk Warrior. run it in OS9. then, be prepared with it in osX. also, see if you can have a dual boot system or two systems for while before you completely commit.

I know there was a problem with the first version of Jaguar or Panther that was messing with all firewire drives, but as long as you have the most current version of your operating system, you should be fine. You still might be talking about something else, but I've never had any problems, and I've had every version so far except Tiger. John
