I had to read that post a couple of times to figure out what you meant.

"Bleed into each other"

I think you mean you want to use the EQ on all the tracks at once.

To do this you're gonna have to bus all the tracks together and eq them all at once, or you're gonna have to eq them at separate times to do them separately.

What's the ai3 adat? I don't recognize it. If you want to know how to patch in the efx to the 002, and how to route pro tools, lemme know.

thanks max, yea my real question is how to set up my 002 so I can use effects like plug ins, right now im sending it out and making an new track for the eq input...which im sure there is an easier way to do it...like using a plug in... I just cant seem to figure out how, I read the manual, its just not workin. Oh yea, and the ai3 is that crappy alesis adat converter....i know i know...not very slutty of me...but at least my out board is nice

Maybe some other books aside from the Digi's documentation just to get a fresh perspective is a good idea. Not a big fan of those "Dummy" books though.

But, I think this may be a case where you want to set things up as Inserts in PT's I/O window. That's how PT "wants you" to set up outboard. So, set up the outboard in and out of 1 & 2 as an INSERT (not to be confused with Input / Output), then you can choose your outboard gear essentially the same way you choose a plug in. Add that outboard "plug in" to an aux, then buss or send things to that aux.

Is that the info you're looking for? I too am confused by the bleed thing, unless you're talking about routing out 8 channels to a Mackie or something like that just to use its EQs, in which case, I believe the authorities may have already surrounded your house. Just kidding. Whatever works...

Hope that helps,

You would hook your EQ from

002 Output 3 -> EQ IN and EQ OUT -> 002 Input 3

(and the rest of your effects or correction devices the same way)

In Pro Tools where you normally insert a plug-in is an option for an I/O insert -- to use the EQ above select I/O 3.

If you're using the AI3, then use the ADAT outputs which are 9 through 16 (in the default I/O setup).
