Voxengo

If I had to pick only one company's plugs to use, regardless of cost....

It wouldn't be much of a contest.

http://www.voxengo.com/products/

These are the best native plugs I've used for mixing, mastering, sound design... whatever.

One of the best deals in pro audio.

i dunno, after using a bunch of it, i like the l2 and l3 better for limiting..

but the glisseq, the chorus, and the soniformer are great. i want to try the voxiformer next.

honestly. for punch and in your face compression, i love the elemental audio neodynium.. and lets not leave out the ohmboyz for delays and distortion.

those are my favs. the best eq by far is the algorythmix red and orange. then the hydratone.

these are all worth the money to me...

The algorythmix stuff looks interesting but their pricing make waves look like a bargain.

Only $3000 for Scratchfree and Noisefree together - what a deal

Basically, you are paying for 10 copies - the one you own, and the 9 other people pirated.

considering the weiss 7 band phaze eq costs 7500 bucks, and the algorithmix one comes damn close to the weiss in sound quality. i think its a steal honestly.. and for mastering, its amazing..

Yeah but you dont price things based on what hardware costs and it should never even enter the calculation. Its software and the overhead is probably not even 10% of what hardware costs to design, build, manufacter ect.

I bet no less work goes into Voxengo stuff yet he would charge a slight fraction of some of these other companies proving these guys are trying to be theives. People used to try and just make a living..

Try the new transmodder, it's a new, excellent transient designer. Great for drums. Haven't tried the LF Punch yet, looks like it could be handy.

when you put it in the highest quality mode, it uses 250% of my p4 2.4.. so if that is any indication of the math going on in the code, welp, yeah its worth it..

Voxengo is a great company. I am looking forward to what they make in the future.

I especially like the Elephant limiter (try it with some aggresive bassline or synth...great!) and the GlissEq (excellent response and v e r y accurate).

I have heard very nice things about their new compressor and I am probably going to try it soon.

elephant on a mix sucks, it smears the top end, but yeah, i can see why it would be good on a bass synth.. i'll give it a shot..

the only voxengo plug-in I ever liked (for a moment) was the r8brain pro, it worked ok for some upsampling I did, having done some tests with it for downsampling it doesn't sound good at all.

Well, I have never had a problem in the top end with Elephant.
But anyway, try it on bass, you might like it.

also a big fan of almost every voxengo plug i've demo'd or purchased.
one thing i really like about the approach is the ui's. while some may find them less spectacular visually - they are clearly designed around functional purpose and adventuring towards new possibilities. frankly while i have the uad-1 and all of it's stellar imitations, many times what i reach for is a voxengo plug for the uniqueness, flexibility and power to shape the sound. they have done a great job balancing the goal of capturing of vintage tone while seeking to open new doors of control that digital UI's enable. a great example is the curveEq - which i think is underated. this eq let's you draw the eq curve whith any # of points along a spline curve, and drag and pull points to shape the tone. beyond that it includes sound signatures of dozens of vintage sources that you can start from or overlay your curve. sometime after using the curveeq it's hard to go back to the typical parametric eq interface which seems crude in a way comparatively.

also re: the elephant.... make sure you are using the high quality mode - there are 2 main modes and one will provide more pristine clarity.

i haven't tried the new comp - which they just released - but imagine it will be excellent. if you watch this company - it's like watching progress - non-stop new tools inspired by a thorough interaction with customers. each plug goes through numerous iterations, improvements - direct responses to user comments. nope i am not in any way connected to voxengo - pretty sure it's mostly one guy. but i am a fan, because the dood is really delivering. and the price point is so utterly fair.

, yeah good stuff; he's also one of the few companies that seems able to send out simple text-based press releases which are easy to read/cut/paste. If only the others would employ that simple approach instead of sending out stupid html PR mailshots which look like the front cover of HELLO mag!

I quite like the Warmifier plug...
Its gives the sound a nice valve-like sheen, and a bit of woof. Doesn't have the weight and hardness of real valve gear, but certainly has a pleasing tone that is a nice adjustment to make to a track, particularly if its from a softsynth.

I have had a lot of great sounds come out of their new Marquis Compressor. The Program release dependant settings are a bit 'mysterious' but the plug sounds great. Very flexible, sometimes he makes his plugs a little too feature rich. Alesky's stuff is a great deal - lord knows I have paid more for shi@#ier sounding plugs.

I just bought the Marquis Compressor. It's the first voxengo plug that really sold me instantly. I'm not so crazy about the interface, but it really sounds great. And it's a ridiculous price. He should really charge more.....

I like all of them! Marquis is an outstanding good universal compressor. GlissEQ with this dynamic equalization feature is a "must have" for mastering. Same thing with Elephant - some of the best brickwall limiter.

I can always recommend Voxengo Plugins!

I don't see much disagreement with the Voxengo pick. If I had to pick from only one company, it would have to be Voxengo. If I had to pick top 5 plug-ins, though, I'd go with PSP and Elemental Audio.
I never really liked the Voxengo GUI.
I have Soniformer, Elephant, Voxformer and Pristine Space Light.
The other thing: I've always been conflicted as to what compressor or equalizer to go for. I've been teetering on the edge for awhile-- Gliss Eq. Same goes with the Marquis Compressor. But I already have Eqium and Neodynium. Hmm...

OK.
I changed my own mind. I'd have to go with PSP. Multi-delay is incredible as is Nitro. I still have found nothing better than Vintage Warmer. To tweak further and get some harder effects--The Mix Pack. I still like the sound of MasterQ, even though the interface of that can drive me nuts. Then there's Lexicon 84.
Finally... MasterComp.
In fact, I'll take everything by PSP and Elemental Audio.
