| Lives for gear | A question for UAD 2 Solo and 2 Duo owners.
I am thinking about buying a UAD Solo or Duo and have a question about number of instances at 96Khz . for example the UAD chart shows the 4K bus compressor will run 35 instances mono and 29 instances stereo at 44.1Khz. The chart is based on 44.1Khz. I did not attend audio engineering school and still cry when i fall off my bike so i just don't know the answer. Is it correct to assume that at 96Khz it will run half that amount of instances ? less ? more ? an infinite amount that will mix your song for you ? Any advisement would be super dope on your part . Thanks in advance you slutty slutz. |

Hi, I am not a scientist, but I did a short test on my UAD-2 DUO. @44.1 kHz: 8 instances of Neve 33609 (stereo) @96 kHz: 6 instances So my guess is the factor is not 2:1, but maybe UAD tech support can give you the correct answer

divide by 2 to see what you can run at 88.2 96 will be a little less.

The affect of sample rate on the number of instances you can get will depend in part on the plugin you are using. Ones that do internal sample rate upconversion see much less difference between lower and higher sample rates than plugins that do not do internal upconversion. An example is the recently released Manley Passive, which only uses an extra 5-10% CPU as you go up in sample rate, rather than doubling the CPU. Unfortunately, there is no chart that will let you look this up easily.
