an Audio Units plugin replacement for "Vari-fi"

I'm coming from a PT background (now Logic) and have became accustom to using the "vari-fi" plugin by digidesign. Is there an AU replacement for this? One that can be used in Soundtrack Pro's "offline" processing window? For those who don't know, "vari-fi" can produce pitch dives immulating a record speeding up or slowing down to a complete stop. Some help.....

Thanx.......

I´m curious about this too!!!!
I did something similar to this using Nuendo 2 pitch automation a while ago... but I couldn´t replicate it anymore with Digital Performer.......

I have not tried Vari-Fi, so I don't know how extreme it can go.

I think you can do something similar using Waves Soundshifter in graphical mode (or Pitch'n'Time but that's RTAS), but I think it won't go as extreme as Vari-Fi because it can only drop pitch by 12 semitones.

Otherwise you could try to stretch the audio and use an automated pitch shift plugin, don't know if this is possible in Logic, since I am not a Logic user.

Yeah, I have SOundshifter and Waves doesn't support the graphic editor for AU. And using the Soundshifter plug and automating it.. does something to the signal once activated also theres some type of buffer delay when it goes from bypassed to active, therefore it's unusable to me...

so... that's why I'm on the hunt... anybody else?

In the past, I have put the audio part into an exs24 sampelr and used the pitchbend automation.

All those pitchbend solutions dont sound that good compared to vari-fi and imho the best one; tape-stop wich is free but pc only...

an alternative fro mac (osx) would be soundhack....

http://www.soundhack.com/freeware.php

in soundhack there is a transposition mode in wich you can draw a line...this is not a realtime solution but it is the best soluto 'sound quality/tape/vinyl-stop emulation' wise....

you can get a pretty good tapestop sound by unplugging your DA's word clock cable while its playing

I know this is old, but is there any update for a good AU plug-in that works in Logic?

four years later and there is still no au option. Seems like there is a high demand for this.

Not free, but Sugar Bytes' Artillery plug-in will do this a treat (vinyl stop/start-up effect).

Izotope radius maybe? Its a time stretching and pitch shifting tool that integrates right into time and pitch machine.
