anyone doing parallel compressing using mix knob on plugs?

Seems like some of the more recent vst compressors have mix controls which allows you blend in some of the effected signal. PSP and voxengo are two that come to mind. The new Voxengo Marquis compressor is supposed to have some preset modeled from the ssl comp. Does anyone hear do the a parallel compression for drums say using the mixtrol control on the plug rather than a separate fader in the software?

I think the flexibilty to be able to use a pair of dedicated faders and aux sends is pretty important for parallel compression.

I've tried using the mix knob on vsts, but I am a bit superstitious of the way they do their internal summing...Haven't ever A/B them though, just sticking to what I know.

Camel Audio has 2 plugins with a Mix knob; CamelSpace & CamelPhat. The latter I use as a distortion compressor on a DrumBus, but I could see me using that on individual tracks as well.

Mix knobs should be standard on any plug. I always wonder how come they leave it out at all.
Same about side-chaining for volume in DAWS. How such an obvious basic could be left out, I dunno ...

I've used the mix knob on a track (specifically bass), but not on busses or parallel mixes...its just too easy to copy tracks and apply different types of compression to each track, then blend to taste I think.

This is key for me as I usually apply different compression to each track as well, instead of some compression to one track and none on the other.
