Hey There Everybody, I've defaulted to Winamp as my main player. However, I audit an Internet course that is broadcast using a URL and the suffix *.asx. I have defaulted Winamp as the audio player through the file type selection preferences in Winamp, and I have defaulted WMP as the video player through the file type selection preferences in WMP. The exception is the *.asx suffix which I have defaulted to WMP. The problem I'm having is that when I click on the link for the one *.asx program I audit, Winamp is the player that is booted. This would be fine excepted that Winamp won't play the program. I spoke to the Tech people at the company that broadcast the program and they stated that WMP is their preference for playing their programming. The only way I can get the program to play is to click on the link, wait for Winamp to boot, boot WMP and copy the URL (which changes slightly each day) to WMP. If somebody understands why this is happening and has a solution, I would be grateful. Thank-you, Ian |

i've had issues like this before - the solution was to go to winamp, file types and makes sure it's not selected as player of *.asx files then once deselected, go to the other program and select *.asx from list as a file extension it will play. I know this sounds like I haven't understood what you were saying or perhaps someting you would have already tried, but i had some frustration with this issue (and using file types in windows) and this worked.

Here's what I'm gonna try. There is a dialogue entitled Extra File Options. When highlighted the associated files are not run through any output processing. I think that may be the reason I was having trouble playing back the internet radio. I'll try tomorrow and hopefully this will work. Thanks, Ian thumbsup |
