Never really fancied the idea of these signature bundles but if the CLA comps are anything to go by then .......
Gonna download the demo and give it a whirl

May be missing something - but there appear to be no Mac VST versions available for Live 8 after installation (most Wave AUs in Live 8, including these, just pass audio without effect)?! :(

demoed it out.
the drum room sound is cool. bricasti i believe.
didn't really like that module much more, although it was the one of the ones i was most wanting to hear.

the stereo pitch effect on the vocal is cool too.

the unplugged is nice in general too. i thought it was going to be a lil' harsher than it ended up being, kudos.

other than that, id rather keep to my stuff, even tho CLA is killer IMO.
I don't think i'll buy it, but i think 'like the Maserati' it could be very usable in the right circumstances.

I demoed the CLA comps and I really enjoyed them. I decided to hold off on purchasing them to give the CLA Signature Series a run.

I was hoping they'd be a "one stop shop," but we'll see. LokiProducer, I agree with you that the Maserati is good for some things, but it's not a great "bread and butter" set like the CLA compressor collection.

It's not Bricasti. Although if I get a check in the mail I let you know.

It's because a TDM single chip can't run a maxed out instance.

Personally I'd get the CLA comps. because those are SO bread and butter. and you can get such awesome sounds with those. in CLA sig. world they tell you what sound your going for. instead of you doing the thinkin.

I'm ALL about the CLA bundle...I totally use it as bread and butter now instead of the UAD comps...Still love the 33609 though...They totally achieve the sound I think of when using the hardware...

Waves site is down right now. Must be a lot of interest.

I was reading on it for awhile, and then I clicked on a new link, and the whole site seems to be down now...

I feel the EXACT same way. that 33609 model is awesome. I use their 31102 model everywhere too.

Ugh. These really are being marketed as Easy-Bake-Oven "My Very First Pro Pluginz," aren't they?

For instance:

"You get three color-coded presets..."

"...the very best settings which I use in my everyday mixes..."

"...best of all, they will want that sound every time!..."

This product is just screaming "Now YOU can mix too!!"

I guess it doesn't hurt anyone though. People who need this kind of overly simplified attitude from their tools will enjoy these plug-ins. And why learn fundamental techniques if these plug-ins will enable a hobbyist bedroom producer to never touch a traditional compressor again?

It's just kind of depressing to think about all of the learning that won't happen as a result of products like this.

Oh, well. This is one of the only times you'll hear me criticize Waves. I generally like all of their products from the last 4 years. I guess I just feel like these "Artist Signature Collections" should be released under a different brand name, like Waves Home Editions, or Waves Express.

Look at it this way - these days, the artist is not always present during the mixing (for some types of music it's a rarity). If you just send your tracks to CLA to mix, you wouldn't learn anything about what he's doing either.

A few years ago for a writing class I created a fictional product that I called the AIMU (Artificial Intelligence Mixing Unit). The idea was that you would feed in your tracks, select a "mixer profile" (all based on painstaking analysis of various professional mixers' work), and then hit "mix." The AI engine would determine what instruments were being played and then mix the song "just like the pros." Doesn't seem too far fetched now.

I'm hoping to be in touch on a purchase before the end of the month...

Boy they sure put the screws to you to entice you up to the whole planet.... planet Mercury that is..... As a lowly Platinum guy, as cool as all this avalanche of products are the jump is just still too steep...... How about TDM to Native crossgrade... LOL.... How is that Waves can crank this many quality products out whilst companies like "this is....." just seem so ..... constipated.....

Oh well..... hope these are cool..... love my Platinum and SSL.... no way I try these new ones for fear of prolonged wanting for more

All in good fun,
-Lee

I never got into the maserati or kramer bundles. For some reason, it just didn't do anything for me or the tracks I tried using them on.

So I'm not as excited as some about this one even though CLA is my favorite mixer. I'll download the demo and try them out, but I'm not expecting it to replace anything I already have.

As another name idea might I suggest Waves For Dummies.
Seriously though I'm sure they're great and I'd probably use em if I had em. Probably indispensable for the artist who doesn't have the time, budget or inclination to learn the ins and outs of getting the big pro sound.

CLA Comps are great. I would love to see more high quality stuff that goes even further.
If Nebula can go beyond all others soundwise with just to guys working, waves should be able to revolutarize the market instead of bringing out one click n finish-plugins like that.

Just my 2 ct

I'd really rather waves just straight up emulated more of his gear. How about some modernized SSL strips based on CLA's exact console, with 48 randomized iterations of the plug-in, all corresponding to the nuances in his channels? Gimmicky as hell, but I'd buy it!

I just downloaded them and have barely checked them out.
My initial hit is that they would be cool for somebody who didn't want to figure anything out.
They offer one slider versions of pretty simple concepts.
How about Reverb with 3 size choices and a level control.
How about Compression with 3 types and an amount control.
You get what I'm saying, I guess in a way it is Waves for dummies.

That being said, somebody will probably produce a stellar production with these.

I reserve judgement.
