Does a program exist to create and trigger MIDI arpeggios?

I am having an issue whereby I would like to create and trigger MIDI arpeggios from or through my DAW (Sonar) similar to how they would be done in a stand alone keyboard.

The thing is I have no stand alone workstation keyboard, only a controller and a Yamaha MOTIF ES rack, which although it does have it own arps built in, it does not accept import or creation of arps in the unit.

So is there a plug in or program that I can use on my computer screen to create arps the way they would be created on a workstation keyboard and then trigger them either from my controller or from note data through Sonar?

I've got a Roland V-Synth XT on the way that is supposed to have a great arpeggiator in it, but regardless I'd rather be looking at the note data on a giant computer monitor than a 4" synth screen.

I found a list of some programs that I think could solve this - http://www.beatmode.com/product-info/arpeggiators.html

Anyone have any experience or opinions on this issue?
-Mark

So, dumb question, you're saying the Sonar MIDI arpeggiattors won't work because your synth won't accept the control? I don't think I understand what you're saying.

No, what I'm saying is that the Sonar MIDI arpeggiator is cheesy basic and it has no step record.

For example lets say I want to setup a MIDI pattern arpeggio that has some specific single note runs and chords in it, and then whenever I hit a key on my controller it transposes that sequence appropriately and outputs the arpeggio sequence it generates in MIDI to the tone generator of my choice.

Again, this is standard fare to setup on any workstation keyboard like the Roland Fantom I had, and the arpeggio output could trigger the Roland's internal sounds and/or be output thru MIDI to any other tone module, but I would like to accomplish this via software.

That Numerology software looks very promising, it seems like a super advanced step sequencer, thanks for that link. Very interesting to read it's description as well - http://www.five12.com/numerology.html

Crap, Numerology only runs on a Mac it looks like, and if you guessed from me using Sonar I'm on a PC.

mark....
i'm not sure on your specific needs...but powertracks that i use has a host of midi features and is well known to be an advanced midi sequencer.
a new piano roll has just been added and you can step sequence as well as midi editing and notation which has a host of possibilities..
just try the demo at pgmusic.com, and see if it meets your needs.
ps....amongst a host of midi features alsit also has an on midi screen pitch bender if you dont have one...has run for me on pc for years...also has msb/lsb/sysex support if you need it....peace.

The Seq303 is a step in the right direction, but it looks like each step in its arps plays one note only, and you can't have a chord in a step for example.
