Yes.

For reference, 0VU = -18dBFS, so keep gain staging in mind. Control your levels with something like FreeG before you send the signal to AcquaVox.

Rule of thumb: record with peaks at a maximum of -6dB.
Put a trim plug as the first insert on your channels and keep individual tracks peaking at -18dB or so in the mix.
Keep the mix peaking at -6dB or so before mastering, and master to -0.1 dB.

It's simple stuff, but it makes a big difference. Read the Skip Burrows/Paul Frindle thread for more.

Tried today, meh.. It's true that it goes berzerk way too fast and even not considering that the effect is not really something that will affect a mix noticeably.
Then is free so, thanks for releasing it.

Just a quick question for you guys: how many of you use Nebula for pro projects? I mean it seems still a lil too hard to tweak and unstable for me to use it in professional projects, just me?

Trick is you have to place it on every track, as if you recorded with it. Its been a while but from what I remember when trying, seemed it works best when not changing any knob value's at all.

I can't comment on stability issue's (though it would be nice report any bugs to the developers so they'll be aware of it) but a Nebula instance 99% works best with only 1-2 knobs used. I mean if its an eq for example, just adjust freq. and band gain and thats all (if needed input-output gain too)...other settings are just there for now, probably won't be in the future.

I do know many from the community but here's something interesting I'd like to share. I know at least 8 professionals that use Nebula (in Turkey) but not 1 of them commented about it in any forum environment. Since Nebula can help to get a sound "very different" from the other Studio that uses X products, I guess they just want to keep it to themselves.

Is there still no AU available for this?
I just downloaded and installed, but it's only showing up as a VST, which obviously won't work in Logic...

Is that Slate Digital "SOON"?

Or a REAL soon?

Just a friendly joke.... but i would ALSO love to try this as an AU and see what all the talk is about!!!

i have Nebula 3 Pro and really do get some good use out of it but in a specialized way... only in small doses as it is a CPU KILLER for me on my older Mac...

I do love the sound though.... so i'm keen to try this Aquavox idea...

Any word?

I downloaded this because I thought it was cool. Loaded it in my VST to RTAS adapter, and put it on a track in Pro Tools...everything was fine until the playback. 8317 samples of delay??? Seriously? Why? My PT9 can only handle about 4100 samples per channel. I can't even use it. I did think it looked cool though...but unusable, for free. Anybody else encounter this very serious problem?

Yeah, that's the way it is. Regarding ProTools the statement from acustica audio was pretty clear, a few years ago:
Once Avid will sort that problem out, you'll be able to use acquavox/nebula in ProTools. No native RTAS to be expected anyway.

I think that you can lower the latency to such as 4096 in xml file....

I have recently discovered this free plug. Seriously unreal. I used it on 3 vox tracks and ran them to a buss with a Softube CL1B and Decapitator. Had to use subtle settings but man, really sounds gooey. The Acquavox adds a subtle analog weight to each vox track. Together, man, just nice and round. Killer on bass too!

+1 - AcquaVox is really nice for those subtle weightness! i also like
it on snares.

anyone knows more about the W735 EQ Plugin from analoginthebox.com ?
they posted it on their relaunched website some days ago, but
no chance to buy it yet... i've read some posts on the acustica-forum,
but they also don't have many informations when it will be released.

not for me.
Usually i test all vst in my netbook (one wav, one vst)
And this suck in stability, redraw mode blah blah blah. . .
But gui is good, because the concept of nebula (like a vhs recorder from '80s) for me (and is my personal taste/opinion) is a totally error . . .
No time to play like a blonde girl with manuals . . . i need a clear interface, with no learn curve.
acquavox is a good point of start in this. I never buy that read ugly box . . . (ears are important, but my eyes too)

welcome then to acquavox.

Now solve the % in my processor and we can start to talk.

2% maybe 10% in a normal 4core can be nice . . . but 200% make-me smile . . .

unistalling!!

hmm... never found a use for this one, but I'm always trying to add heft to snares, so I'll give that a shot.
