What Playback/buffer settings are you working with???

I'm usually at 256 samples. Sometimes 128 if I have just a few tracks. And I agree that some would find playing dry a little dry. I don't do a lot of high gain or metal stuff. Mostly bluesy and crunchy. My T5 Koa has such a sweet natural sound, that it really doesn't throw me off at all.

I prefer to keep it as low as possible, mostly 128 to avoid latency while playing.
If that doesn't work, for example if I have several track's with Amp on it ill process a track with AS in a new play-list and bypass/inactivate the Amp on these track's and move on to next one.
I always keep the clean track's in the play-list as I tend to choose the final sounds while mixing or after the editing is done.

I find the basic tone can have a large effect on how and what I play, especially with high gain settings. I'd be leery of recording a high gain part dry.
Have you tried messing with the modes at all? I typically record in 'ECO' mode when tracking/mixing, and only switch to 'Hi Q' mode when printing the track.

My box arrived today, finally. But there is no manual included like Amplitube2 had and the manual was the main reason I bought the boxed version instead of the download.

So, in the end, I waited longer and paid more for nothing. Not good, IK!

Sorry, maybe that should be in the moan zone...

Yes, we've made a move to be "paperless" (if we didn't have dealers selling boxed items in stores we'd probably be nearly completely so) on our software packages as far as the documentation. It has been included on the installation disk for a few years now which is why AmpliTube 2 would have it. I will make sure people here know that things could be more clearly presented about this in the future.

Peter et al ?

Will using the Ampeg SVX inside A3 sound any different than before? Better resolution or anything? Take more CPU?

Thank you

Got my Amplitube 3, but the disc is bad:CRC errors. Tried on two different computers, one tells me about the CRC error, the other just hangs until I tell the drive to regurgitate the disc. Have a support ticket instead of Amplitube 3 :(
Hopefully this is an isolated incident.

While you wait for a replacement disc you can DL the demo and use the S/N in the box.

It will benefit from the much-improved speaker/cabs for sure. It should take about the same CPU as X-GEAR did. Thanks.

Iv been using this software since its release now, and been blown away by the sound of this thing. Not to mention all the cool tweaking you can be doing with the mics and rooms! I have been reading some things about the distortion in the software and some others saying that there was no good heavy presets. I was just doing a bit of jamming and clicked one a preset that was originally from AT Metal and it was heavy, very heavy. The sort of tone that you would get in metal. I haven't actually touched the preset on this one, and yes it was in the lead section though flicking onto by neck pickups gave it the oomph needed.

Cant praise AT3 enough. Apart from all the fun with the guitars and how great sounding it is i am starting to use it as an effect processor too due to it now being stereo. It is just so versatile which is brilliant for me as I write all sorts of music and once in a blue moon get back with my bro to play gigs (I play bass), this will now be my live rig too.

Will get a sample of the sound I have made in finding that preset up soon.

Not quite the same as recording a real amp, but a bloody great bit of software. Definitely 'record' worthy if you get the tone down. Have coaxed some fat, high gain sounds too with great success.

Actually I received a response within a couple of hours with instructions to register, download and authorize. Worked fine, although my wife saw me up and down the stairs( to my Internet computer) about 10 times Sent an email back suggesting they send me a replacement disc. Still, impressive support. I certainly appreciate the change after dealing with a certain maker of DAW software

Hey Peter,

Got AT3 tonight and love it but SVX is not loading properly within it - Fender,AT2 does but not SVX - sent a ticket to support but wonder if this is something I need to adjust?

For what it is worth I think AT3 sounds lightyears better then AT2 - Might be the better cabinents but it definitely sounds better to kme

Support should sort you out because it really should pull right in. We've been using it that way for a while now. IF you don't get a resolution please let me know, it really is great through AT3 (the better cabs, room simulation, etc adds a lot, IMO).

I like Amplitube 3 the best right now, first off I play guitar and bass and the GK bass rig was just what I needed as far as bass goes, I have the IK Ampeg package and its ok, but Amplitube 3 sounds much better. I like the way they stepped up the mic room too, not only do you get 2 mics at a time but also a room sound to mix in, as well as some interesting new rack and pedal effects. I havent toyed with the harmonizer much but it seem interesting, they let you harmonize in what ever scale you want pretty much. Im thinking about getting the Fender package too, I like they way the Ampeg can be opened in Amp3 and it would be cool to have more amps but Im not sweating it because the amps in amplitube 3 are plenty. I use logic 9 and the amps and pedals there are cool but not as inspiring as I hoped theyd be. I havent tried Guitar rig 4 , My friend has version 3 and I didnt care for it much, It sounded a little flat and I didnt really like the interface. I have protools 8 LE too, the Eleven LE has a couple nice tones but its a limited version with not many extras, andt seems to eayt up my Ram up too much. I tried the studio devil demos for the bass and guitar. Sounds were pretty gritty, not enough to make me buy it though. Amplitube 3 pretty much wins imo.

I was trying A3 in standalone over the weekend trying the 4 track recorder. The volume and pan controls seemed to become frozen. I didn't spend much time trouble shooting and I realize this is a .0 release but was curious if this is a known bug on some systems? I use it as an AU plugin anyway so not really an issue. I do like it though and just used the top boost model on a veteran NY session guy (old timer) instead of the usual real amp. He liked it.

I haven't seen this reported, but support may have (or it may be something they can fix for you) so if you have some time it would be great if you could log a ticket or send me your info (email, username, description of the issue) so I could get it to our support guys. Thanks!

Glad to hear you used it successfully for a session already.

Hey Peter:
The response from IK was a little underwhelming. The support person suggested that since the download was the same, I should just burn the download to a disc. OK, no manual, no disk but a higher price! I thought that they should at least replace the disc, heck I bought it!
BTW, Amplitude 3 sounds great.

amplitude 3 vs guitar rig 4

Hi all, i've been trying out a a demo version of amplitude 3 and comparing it to guitar rig 4, and the clearest difference I can find is that A3 feels more alive, its sounds are more vibrant. I dont use huge distortion so my taste is in the clean/dirty area, and i feel right now that A3 has the best quality tones i've heard in a sim. I also use wave arts tube saturator as a processor before the sims, since that gives guitars a tube warmth as a start point like no other tube plug i've tried , and i've tried a lot., its fantastic, they've really nailed the chewy sensitivity of a great tube amp.

Got my Amplitube 3 a few days ago

I'm loving it. Very stable, sounds great, and love the Big Pi pedal. I'm broke and I would buy it again!

Saw Peter from IK on here so I do have one request. Love the GK bass rig, but the most famous bass player out there these days is Flea, and he does have a great sound, so I'm kind of surprised you didn't make a GK 2001 RB with his cabinet setup. Here's my suggestion.

Amplitube Flea! charge like $59 or $79 bucks for it. His whole rig including the Boss ODB-3, GK RBH 115, GK RBH 410, etc. I'd get it tomorrow if I thought my wife wouldn't shoot me. Hell, I'd still get it.

The only other things I was hoping for in Amplitube 3 were the Boss DS-2 and a Hiwatt amp.

Anyway, Amplitube 3 is well worth the price and for those like myself that just have to upgrade, go get it. Now.

Go.
