Thread Starter | URS 1970 vs 1980 Aargh, got caught up in work and my overlap plan failed (installed 1980 3 days before the 1970 demo ran out). Didn't get a chance to compare them on drumbus. In general, a have a better feeling about the 1980. Opinions??? ruudman |

Without comparing the plugs to the "real thing", I personally have fallen for the smooth sound that I think the 1970 gives me, compared to the 1980. I use it on the drum buss, snare etc, and also liked it better as a master buss as well. But that could have something to do with that it fits my type of music better?? I havent really made up my mind regarding the 1980....right now I think it`s to..."harsh"? KK ![]()

Thread Starter | Thanks. I'm all for the '70's vibe, just got a feeling that this plug was up for a task too big. But SSL is kind of gritty, maybe easier to emulate in a plug. I might wait for Chandler.. When I've done shootouts with my various comp plugs vs URS, I rediscovered an old freebie: D3. I got it to work really good in certain situations. A plug from '98 or something...! ruudman |

| I dig em both...actually like the 70 in most cases better, especially on 2 Buss, but the 80 is cool for drums

| I'd like to see a SSL channelstrip (different than the quad compressor) and a DBX160 compressor from URS! ![]() |

| He pretty much just did. I wonder if it will be modeled after the 9000K, or if it will be a switchable E/G thing like the AWS900? McDSP already did the Channel G, and URS has their S EQ, which is the 4000. It's cool though because the SSL plugs will likely be native if their free release of the LMC is any indication. Channel G is TDM/RTAS only. I need Audio Units for Logic 7 Pro. I look forward to the SSL plugin offerings. That LMC has some mojo for sure. Thanks again for that little treat! thumbsup |

| After working with both of these, I gotta say that I think the 1980 is a lot more useable to me than the '70. And I was really looking forward to the '70 being the answer to my plugin compressor prayers. But I've been coming to a realization that I don't like to 'chew up' my sounds as much as the 1970 seems to. And as I've mentioned, I never use the 1176 on anything other than 4:1, so take that into consideration. But it just seems that the 1970 destroys the sound too much. Just my silly 'ol opinion. |

Maybe you can tell me how to make the SSL sound good on the 2 Buss. i find it usefull on the drum sub. I really want it to be cool, but I have not figured it out yet I guess....How are you using it? I love the 70....but I wanna love the 80's too!

I agree! I love the 70 to I actually think the 80 is "chewing" up my sound to much.. I just cant get used to it like I can with the 70. But maybe that time will come where I just loooove the 80:-) KK ![]()

Thread Starter | I agree with Max. Plus the 1980 has some graininess to it, as the original has. The 1970's wearing a shirt that's one size too big, I might prefer Channel G in Api mode (forward feedback) ruudman |

Thread Starter | There are two Kennys - one that is dead or about to be - one alive and kicking mister, produceher The latter one once made a "legendary" Channel Strip preset named "SSL". This has only been revealed to the Digi Knights, but now a photo has been posted on www. The secret is no secret anymore.. ruudman, TDM Jedi |
