24 analog input interfaces?

Hi all!
What would be the most straightforward way to input 24 channels of balanced, line level analog audio into a DAW? My research has led me to the MOTU 24 I/O which suits my needs just fine, but I was wondering what other options are around.
I don't need preamps or digital intputs.
Thank you!

Without getting into a flame war argument about the quality of sound the converters are capable of, the Motu 24io would be hard to beat for value. Whether it will work or not is another consideration.

The most important question is who is going to support you if you have problems?

Do you have a computer that's compatible with the Motu host card?

Are Motu software drivers compatible with DAW software you want to run?

Choose your dealer wisely, perhaps someone who is known for Motu support. I would avoid the big box discounters for a piece like this because it's cheap enough (provided it's good enough).

I'm a big fan of Apogee converters, that's what I'd get. You can do 24 channels with Apogee, I'd check with them on their web site for more details about what specific hardware you'd need.

Best of luck to you.

I´ve been using Motu stuff and the 24 I/O for many years on a daily basis without any problems. See my signature.. I´d buy it again.

Motu is good
the Alpha Link is in the same class as Apogee, Lynx
considerable AD/da difference.
price will be double that of the Motu.

Motu is 1300 or so
SSL Madi/Alpha combo $2700 or so (32 bit only)
RME Madi/Alpha $3500 or so (64bit) with room to grow

the Alpha Link is actually 48 I/O

Hi! Thanks for the replies. As it really isn't meant to be a "boutique" application, I think I'll go with the 24 I/O. It's more about quantity than top quality in this scenario. Besides, I've only had good experiences with MOTU gear (MTP AV, 828 mkII).
I assume it will work ok on a modern Windows PC running Reaper?
Cheers
