Tossed Link? New Powerbook connection?

Can anyone clarify this please?

Combined analog and optical digital line-in, combined analog and optical digital line-out, stereo speakers, microphone (on new PB 15" and 17")

What is this? Toslink, mini toslink, spdif, spdif posing as minijack, tossed link (new format)?? Rate? It works?

If this is Toslink, (Adat with S/MUX) Apple might just have reinvented the hardware sampler... (gigabit ethernet for midi)
Orrrrr Sonic Works software or something and a nice AD/DA for mastering?? (the PB 1.3 here is as quiet as a mouse, in fact more so..)

One can only hope... Anybody???

Man I hope for this to be useful aswell. It´s funny, the other day I was thinking to myself that it would be cool if a computer took the atari stance for musicproduction and included adat lightpipe out of the box.

BTW I noticed that they also have included a PC card slot now, it´s new isn´t it?

nope that was always there.
and the G5 had an optical i/o. but not the powerbook.
just very curious what it is exactly. and how they did the implementation.
also the gigabit ethernet, and the dual layer burner strike me as proficient investments.
I mean the gigabit turns it into an instrument or node, to use with the main studio machine... or the other way around....
and a nice mastering thing, as there is plenty of good AD around now with digital connections... Hell the PB might even have AES EBU<<<<

..
nah
