64 Bit Interfaces on XP64

As an AMD64 user, I was quite thrilled to find out that Cakewalk was releasing Sonar 5 with full support for Windows XP64, even wrapping 32 bit plugins to 64 bit. My excitement quickly turned to aggravation when I realized that neither MOTU nor RME had released 64 bit drivers, and seem to have been stalling at that for over a year.

Has anyone found a good interface (good syncing features, down to 64 sample latency at most, 24 digital in/out - ideally) that works with XP64? The performance benefits could be substantial for us AMD users.

Curiously looking for a replacement for my Motu 2408...

Mike

RME Fireface 800 has 64 bit drivers, other RME will follow suit sooner than later and most (maybe even all) M-Audio products currently have Win64 drivers.

Agh... I hadn't even thought to check for drivers for my MOTU 828mkII when I was airballing my next desktop box...

... it was all gonna be so slick. A relatively cheap AMD chip... Sonar 64 is already on the disk they'll be delivering tomorrow... I was thinkin' I'd just stroll down to the local computer hobbyist store, grab a chip, mobo and some ram and...

Ah well. Back to the plan A which was waiting for the Pentium M 64's to come out late next year...

I guess this is as good an excuse as any to wait a while... wonder if my good buddies at MOTU will get off their hands and take care of biz?

Wonder if there are 64 bit drivers for the Echo Mia in my old desktop? I always liked that card.

I started testing DAW software on Windows 64 bit beta OS in April 2004. I think there's a great deal of promise there.

But having said that, I don't think there is yet enough advantage in Win64 OS yet to make the switch worth it for everyday use. There are some tradeoffs still, and after testing, no real benefit............yet. Someday, yes, but not yet.

Don't confuse internal audio bit depth with a 32 vs 64 bit OS. Audio bit depth is independent of the OS.

I too am running an AMD 64, and have XP64 and Sonar 64, but am sitting on my ass waiting for MOTU drivers. I emailed them once to ask if they had a timeframe for drivers. I got a quick, simple response.

"No."

end email

Don't worry, I'm not. I wanted to take advantage of my 64 bit processor though, and running on xp64 with 64bit interface drivers would be the way to get a performance gain, no? I've been bitching on the motu forum about their lack of drivers. As soon as RME does 64 bit drivers for the HDSP9652, I'm there.
