Waves SSL vs Propellerhead Record?

I've been trying the Record demo and it just sounds amazing. Unfortunately I can't demo it side by side with the Waves SSL plugins because I already tried the demo a while ago. Has anyone had the opportunity to use both Waves SSL plugins and Record's mixer?

i use both and the waves ssl seems to be very treble based. I think most ssl emu's and boards are very treble intense. The waves ssl is a bit harsh to me ,at many settings, as the record emu can be way smoother. However, the waves ssl g-channel is really amazing at times and i think its a matter of preference/skill.The Involvement on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Videos

also, the record mixer is a 9000 emu and waves is the 4000 series. i had hands on use with a 4000-g for a year and its unlike anything and rare. in my opinion waves got a B+ for getting really close.

What I like about the E channel Waves stuff is that you can just pump the red and it doesn't always end up sounding harsh like if you did the same thing with most of the EQ plugins I've tried.

Plus ripping the mids of a kick drum with that thing is amazing.

Waves SSL can be trebley if you don't know how to use it right. You have to really work on dialing the sound in. Good ad/da converters and monitors with that plug really help because it's easy to get build up in hf and mf if you're not careful without really knowing you are sometimes. I like to use it for vocals mainly but it just takes time and really getting into to get it right. Record is more user friendly for a "reason". I preffer the API Waves on instruments and drums...the 2500 compressor plug is a beast on the drum buss.
