Thread Starter | Looking to multitrack record live bands. What else do I need?
Hey there, I am looking into professionally record live bands. I already know music computer recording techniques for recording straight to daw and already have a great sound (in Logic 9), using a Tascam FW-1082. I thought about this setup: - Upgrade to Tascam FW-1884, for all the DAW controls and the optical ADAT in/out - 2x Presonus Digimax D-8 strip preamps with optical ADAT out - Alesis HD24 - Macbook Pro Does it makes sense? From what I understand, I would use the optical ADAT outs of the Digimax and 1884 to the same inputs on the HD-24, so I could record all tracks unmixed and untouched. Then output the HD-24, 8 analog channels, and 8 ADAT back to the 1884. This way I could work a rough mix while the performance and record it into Logic. My main goal is to be able to record to 2 devices, as I could have a backup, and I'm gonna get the FW-1884 for my studio, so why not use it? Does it makes sense? Am I forgetting something? Edit: Correction, I would use the already full inputs of the fw-1884, not outputting analogs from the hd24. only the adat out back to the 1884. |
