Hey guys, I'm trying to help a friend out with a slight problem at his studio. He has two rigs in two seperate rooms that he does hip-hop/R&B music in. I already setup 8 channels of tie lines so that each studio can access eachothers patchbays. But the problem is that he wants to use one rooms midi modules while in the other studio. Each rig has it's own 8 channel midi interface, so how can I trigger different modules from one room to another. I've already got the audio outputs from the modules going into the tie lines were they are showing up in the other room. I know midi has 16 channels but how do I make this work? I'm not much of an advanced midi guy. Thanks. |

I've been thinking. Can't I just take the out or thru from the main rigs midi interface where we are triggering from and put in the input of the other rigs midi interface, then just assign the midi channels accordingly? I think I'm making this hard.

I don't know if I've got this right, are you saying you've already figured out your audio configuration, and you just need help with the MIDI configuration for the 2 setups? Let me ask a couple of questions. Will the 2 stations be used simultaneously? Can you be a little more specific about the current setup? CPU, midi interface, how many controller keyboards, how many midi slaves being used, etc. Thanks C |

The stations will not both be used at the same time. And yes i already have the audio portion worked out, I've just never worked with a whole lot of midi atleast in this fashion. Basically room 1 is the primary tracking room and it has a few modules. Room 2 is more of a midi room. We want to stay in room 1 and tap into room 2's midi modules who's audio outputs are wired to the patchbay which we already have access to from room 1. Essentially we just want to be able to trigger room 2's modules via midi without having to unplug a lot of crap. I believe i can just take one of the midi out's from room 1's midi interface and put it in room 2's midi interface, then just assign what channel each module is on. Then in Nuendo we can just assign our midi tracks to the corresponding midi channels (modules). Am I safe to assume this? Thanks. |
