d'oh! powerbook battery question

okay so i have a quick question....SOMEHOW...i left my powerbook on without having it plugged in overnight...in the morning...i looked at it..and it said 0% and only powered up with the adapter plugged in. now it works fine with the adapter...but the battery isn't charging....is there anything i can do? i tried resetting the power manager, and that seemed to work once...but now it's back to 0% again for some reason...any help is greatly appreciated. i've searched apple...bummer

no apple care here. but thats neither here nor there...the computer works fine with the adapter...but is not really a laptop..since its not portable...when i click the little button on the battery the first LED blinks a bunch...thats about it...then occasionally it will read 4 lights.....anyone else have any info on how to recharge the battery correctly? because it's been at 0% for a while now. i'd like to know before i shell out some cash for a new battery.

how old is the battery? some rechargables don't like being drained completely. others like to be fully discharged before charging (keeps them from developing a "memory"). depends on the chemical formulation of the battery, i think.

if the laptop has been plugged in for several hours, and you unplug the ac adaptor, does the computer shut down?

tried removing the batt & re-inserting it?

zap pram (can you still do this in os x?)

just a couple of ideas that come to mind.

thanks for the reply man...i really appreciate it. if the computer is on...and i take the adapter out..the computer goes into sleep mode. sometimes it'll show 100% ..sometimes it'll show 0%....mostly 0%....i tried removing the battery and power cord...and holding down the power button for 5 seconds....didn't really do anything.....it just goes back to 0% a lot...and then doesnt charge...but then sometimes will go to 100% and then once i put the adapter...it goes to 0%...very strange...any other tips would be appreciated....right now its working with the battery...but i know once i put the adapter in...it'll maybe work off adapter and switch the battery to 0%...the battery overall is acting weird....just like this post....last bit of info...the battery is the one from the 15" powerbook titanium model. thanks guys i appreciate it.

got a friend w/ the same batt that would let you stick it in your machine? methinks it the battery, but could be the regulator/control/detector circuitry built into the powerbook.

don't know what to tell you... sorry to hear about it.

hey, actually... weren't there a bunch of recalls on powerbooks in the last year or so? something with the batteries. you might look into that.
