Oh great...another EQ from UAD

Honestly i don´t need any more EQ´s. Would rather have seen some nice effects like the Cooper Time Cube, Moog filter.

I beg to differ. Manley Passive is probably one of the best EQs for mastering. Being a passive EQ, even extreme settings sound musical which works really well for pretty much the entire range of genres. I've been asking for MP in UAD for years. If UAD nails it I'm so going to buy it.

IMHO, nothing better on vocals than the hardware massive passive. Let's see what UAD does and if it takes up as much processing as the Fatso

I guess with the FATSO and MP my excuses for not buying UAD are over.

Sorry to go slightly OT but I think the guys at 'analog in the box' should keep very, very quiet about what they are doing.I am sure it will be superior to this modelled version.

Remember Manley were not happy with Acousticas guys sampling their eq for Q-clone and perhaps with good reason. They may well have reserved it to be licensesd to UA.

I tell ya what - this is such a murky area - intelectual property rights as a hardware manufacturer.Where do they begin and where do they end?I am no lawyer but iI would hate to see where this goes.I want the nebula version faster than I can type - because I see a law suit coming...........

testing is believing though, of course. If it's at least 80% close to the original (which it will) I am in on day one.

I know, i will end up for sure buying that thing, cause thats just how it is with UAD Plugin... damn addictive they are

Question

Call me crazy, but wasn't the UAD Precision EQ based on the Massive Passive?
It sure looks and acts like it...

It was based on the Sontec 432 mastering EQ according to their website. It doesn't sound anything like it though- perhaps that's why it was just called 'the precision EQ'.

It's incredible. You'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between it and hardware unless you blindly a-b'd them right then and there, and even then the difference is subtle.

Used to own one and now I'm just stupid happy with this plug, it really sounds just like it. Think of it this way, if you get the quad card you'll have yours plus at least 4 more

Sound on Sound did a review of the Manley Massive Passive and had examples of the hardware vrs software. I found the character of both very similar....close even, but there is something special ablout having the hardware version in your studio. Since I can't afford a real Massive, getting the plug in is a no brainier. It does sound that good. I like to use it in conjunction with my Mini Massive.

I don't have an UAD-2, but luckely I have had the opportunity to work on a DAW with an UAD-2 and the Massive Passive plugin. Let me put it this way, if a Massive Passive plugin would arrive from Softube or Waves (or any other native plugin developer) that, just like the UAD version, sounds incredibly close to the real deal, I would buy it the day it arrived!

Unfortunately, there is not a native plugin that sounds like the Massive Passive.

Maybe I should consider getting an UAD-2 Quad.. because it's not only the Massive Passive I'm interested in.. it's also the Fatso, EMT 250, EMT 140, Harrison, and many more of their plugins..
