You PT users are getting all the compressor glory this week! First the URS and now this. I guess we Natives got the SSL Listen Mic Compressor, and it was free. Can't complain too much.

Could you find out if the Chandler plug will be going native? I'm on AudioUnits now. Thanks.

But we Native Windows guys got nothing! No Chandler, no URS, no SSL.

But wait, we've got the new waves antibreath plugin. If that's not cool.
I'm frustrated.

I like breathy vocals (for example Björk breaths a lot and loud, but it fits very well imo). Antibreath is not cool. You're gonna be frustrated

You got the new Princeton Plate Reverb for $99, which I'd love to add to my native Mac DAW, but can't.

Hey, ho. Is that the vst version of the black Eventide hardware box?
How does it sound?

I had a chat with the guy at Abbey Road. I was surprised to see they had a booth. I guess I kind of gawked a bit -- there it is, the legendary name, big as life. I asked them if I needed to take my shoes off before I approached. They said that would be acceptable.

Gave the comp/limiter a listen. It sounds nice. It's just so ridic to try to listen to anything at AES. No doubt they were very careful to pick program material that showed their gadget in a favorable light -- as has every other exhibitor -- but on the drum kit track featured it seemed to manage to bring up a wonderful ambience without destroying the basic kit. It sounded really nice, but don't hold me to that; it was AES and noisy as hell.

Anyone notice how ambient noise, especially to the degree it's found at, say, a trade show, manages to smooth out the top end of whatever you're listening to? It's a trick field recording artist types have used for years. It can make a recording sound much more hi-fi than it actually is.

Anyhoo...Cheers.

I might trade the capability to run the compressor plugins for the Princeton. I really, really dig the hardware version.

It is the plate algorithm from the Eventide 2016. The stereo algorithm is also available as a vst, for $200, again only windows. The two other reverbs from the hardware unit (room and new) are, as far as I know, not yet available for native systems (ProTools TDM has all except new, Mac only! , what's up with these guys and their arbitrary platform support). Mac native versions please.

Sorry for the thread hijack. I'm sure the Chandler is mighty cool. Is it a modeled TG1? And what's the cost?

Don't despair too much. The Synthax folks told me their Algorythmix plug ins will go native and Mac to boot. Samplitude/Sequoia obviously will be PC only.

Only the limiter section was working right...when i switched it to compressor I couldn't get the attack and release knobs to move...but as a limiter it was sweet.

I was told $600 tdm, $400 rtas...and said the EMI eq would be on the way too.

I also said something like, "so what do you think, is this 90% of the hardware?" and the guys said "definitely".

Wouldn't you have been shocked had they answered differently?

I asked him about VST. He hedged. He said they're looking at it.

He also said about half of the people that came up to him asked him about it.

i think its a great way to market the real deal as well. the TG1 is such a unique sound and this plug is a great way to get an idea of what the real deal does.....

You'd see a lot more VST plug-ins if they weren't cracked immediately on release.

I asked several manufacturers about AudioUnits/VST and they said that they just don't have enough people working to get them out that fast and they are working on it. Most of them also said they'd continue to use Iloc.

I don't own a single cracked plugin so most of those manufacturers would get at least one legit sale that I can account for!

I thought it sounded fantastic. The best drum smash ever on the computer. Smooth.

Nice on piano, too. Vox? Couldn't tell on the convention floor. Also, it was a very bad song.
