It rocks!!! Think of it as a huge drumloop library/player. Now give it shitloads of great fx. Then let it automatically lock to your tempo maps (and it will follow tempo changes on the fly). Now let it have buttons to fiddle with so you can adlib those loops on the fly....... the list is endless. If you are into contemporary urban or it's the stuff!!! If you want trent reznor, send it through the distortion boxes.....it really is cool and fun .Oh yeah, it also has tons of individual sounds sub categorized (Kick snare etc) and , and this is an important and, patterns for you to layer as well. Eg. find the kick pattern you like. Now find a snare patern to go over that. Now get a hat pattern, double time it with one click of a button, slide it............aaaahhhhhh. Seriously powerful, seriously fun!!!! |

I love Stylus RMX. I love all of the Spectrasonics instruments. I'm leaning on them heavily for my writing these days. Worth every penny. I'm going to pick up Backbeat and Burning Grooves in a few weeks. I have the other expanders...incredible stuff. |

How do any of you rate the quality of the individual drum samples? Are they meaty enough? I've been thinking about RMX for a while to give my beat capabilities an overhaul, and I've been pretty disappointed with the Native Instruments offerings (Electronic Drums 1 & 2 were pretty weedy sounding and required layer upon layer of samples to give them any oomph). Sounds like RMX could be up to it though.. ? |

I'm sure it wouldn't suck for rock, but is it "the stuff" for more basic styles as well? | |

Having said that, I've never used it for good ole rock&roll...still like mic'n kits. What I do like is it's mutli-channel, so you can seperate kick, snare, percussion. ect on there own tracks. The effects are quit usuable also, if not pretty damn good.I was just working last night on a r&b song I'm writing for a new young singer we have in mind and was using RMX 1.5(just got the update) for the first time in a long time. Needless to say I had a lot of fun but kinda got carried away if ya know what I mean.

Yeah, RMX rips. If you're a REX guy, you can easily import your whole library into Stylus and play them and effect them inside RMX. You could do Rock with Burning Groove expander, but it's strength is definitly the electronic to pop, with some decent urban too. 1.5 is a nice upgrade. The Multi stuff they added is handy. |

I agree with Stick. It is more electronic/hip-hop/urban based in it's core libraries, but the expanders open it up a lot. Also, you can import anything in REX format and have at it. The electronic kits have actually pushed my decidedly rock style into a different direction. I plan to augment my drum loops with real kits though. |
