can I.... in Cubase/Nuendo?

Hey I'm a Cubase SX 3 user mainly because PT HD is too expensive and I run MOTU 192HD's which i like.
Anyway I've done some work in Pro Tools and found a few things which I loved but have not been able to figure out if it is possible in Cubase or Neundo.
soo..
Is it possible to Automate in Cubase like in PT? ie. highlight section i want to raise the volume on and just drag it all up? as opposed to Cubase where you have to plot the bloody points...
and..
In PT you can route for example 3 different tracks to record into one auxilary track so that you don't get an abundance of tracks building up in your arrangement window.

Are these things possible to do in Cubase SX 3 or Nuendo? In particular the routing?

nah, not folder tracks...
essentially so that 2 or more tracks bounce into 1 as you record
how can you do the automation thing?

yes both those things are there

the volume thing is even better, each clip can have a volume handle, separate to the automation volume line, its really cool

and group tracks are similar to groups on a desk, just route the tracks you want to a group track, hide them away in a folder, and control them all with the group fader.

or if you want make a new mixed file, solo the tracks you want ,use export audio, and check the (import to pool and audio track) options, you will get a new track with the mixed stuff in the right place.

you can also export from many places, including buses, groups, fx, instruments and even single channels, it doesnt have to be from the 2 buss every time.

export is like record, or bounce, same thing.

yeah, with the grouping thats pretty much what I'm doing. But is there anyway to do that on the way to HD?

and..
how do you do the automation thing? What should i search for in the help file that'll tell me if it's too tricky to type?

on the automation thing: each sound clip has 3 important handles: two triangles in top-left and top-right corners and a square in top-middle. The triangles control a fade-in/out per audio clip, the square controls volume of that clip.
I automate a lot of vox with this: cut the sententence up in clips and adjust the volume of each clip. I use the graph volume for overall level changes.

Could you try to explain the other thing you wish to do a little more, the solutions given above seem to do like what you're describining but you claim not to....

hope this helps,
Herwig

I don't understand the point of this? You lose any chance of changing it afterwards.

Thats why folder tracks come in hardy... You hide away as many tracks as you want to be controlled by one fader (ie. an entire drum kit)... but you still have the ability to adjust levels of each individual track within the group.

Me thinks the only reason protool|Le has this feature is to overcome the track limitations. In Cubase & Nuendo you can have as many tracks as one likes.
