So yeah agreed, Logic is just old, and has no doubt lots of baggage to contend with and whilst I'm sure they've done stirling work re-working key aspects, I agree it probably needs a ground-up re-write to be truly optimised for today's multi-core CPUs/accelerated graphics/enhanced CPU instruction sets. | +1
Code is a tricky thing, even though Cubase has Nuendo engine-Nuendo still utilize multicore system resources better.
Also response seem sharper when navigating threw my 64 bit daw, opposed to my 32 bit daw.

You're a long time user so you know that features have been added for more than a decade on basically the same platform/skeleton spread all over the menus and sub menus not necessarily in a logical way. Even long time users like us are still discovering new ways and features, so for a new comer it must be an adventure.
My point is the next level of the Logic board should start with " let's make this baby easier and more straight forward so people that are discovering it will love it in an instant and the "veterans" will turn exclusively to it because of it's powerful features and it simplicity of use".
The few remarks I've mention in my earlier post are the one keeping a lot of ProTools users to make the big jump into Logic...it's about the workflow.
F. | I'm just back tracking on this thread, and I too feel exactly the same way!

APPLE....APPLE...For version 10 i want:
1.....allow me to turn on/off the stupid multi function mouse cursor...it can waste as much time as it is supposed to save...
2.....Fix the darn sync ''All Midi Output'' delay so that it stays on the setting it is put on INCLUDING the decimal.....BASIC...come on!!!!!..i WANT 13.4......NOT 13...NOT 14.....BUT 13.4......thats the setting i want....BUT IT ROUNDS DOWN TO 13 as soon as i close the preference box...this is BEYOND rank.....THIS IS JUST SAD
As a result Ableton is a much tighter package whilst working with external synths and a firwire Desk..(Midas Venice F)

Please no FCP X type update.
A few things I'd love to see...
- object programming option for non-linear song creation
- call me crazy, but I'd love to see the arrange window have the option to rotate orientation to vertical tracking with the mixer faders below and in alignment with each track. Talk about becoming more intuitive for mixing. Sure, editing in the arrangement window would require some getting used to but I would love such an option.
- let us separate the "media" screen from the arrange window so it can be displayed on a 2nd monitor.

I'd like to see the piano roll flipped 90 degrees, so it looks like an actual piano. Quote: |

| Just grab it (by it's header) with the mouse, and move it where you want. This goes for the lists as well, + the editors at the bottom of the page (Mixer, Piano Roll etc).
ETA: you need to remove the Bin in the right margin manually, eg. by clicking b.

All that really drives me nuts in Logic 9 is not being able to move channels around in the mixer without creating arrange tracks for all of them. I can't comprehend why this is the case and it's quite irritating.
Oh, that and the clicks and pops in Mountain Lion. Yeah. Those are pretty bad, too.

It would be nice not to have this kind of thing (latest Logic, latest OS X, happened today) remind me why I use now Studio One. |

it actually is a big problem to those of us who are not such free thinkers!
the virtual console aspect should be completely user friendly..
the ability to place a few faders together in any order as the song progresses would really help.
sounds simple but i expect it is impossible.

So.. would love to see Logic with snappier gui and audio engine. Wouldn't mind possibility to switch automation parameter by a shortcut too. | I second that. I've realized two sound tracks in Studio One recently. Awesome how responsive S1 is under high CPU load no errors no crashes.
Things I wish for Logic in the future:
1a. Snappy audio engine, so if I create or change cycle markers audio should react as fast as midi to that. S1,Nuendo,Reaper can do that. Why not Logic?
1b. once the audio engine reacts faster or snappier scrubbing audio should work like it was intended to. Smooth scrubbing without logic getting crazy never really worked.
2. Collapsable folders for working with high track count
3. Track list like S1,Reaper,Pro Tools have it. Useful for navigating and hiding Tracks/Channel strips incl a list filter like Reaper has it.
4. Being able to rearrange multiple channel strips in the mixer without creating an arrange track for them.
5. !!!!! Being able to select multiple tracks in the arrange page/view to move them, pack them in collapsable or region folders, to change parameter values etc !!!!
6. I really like the lunar kit interface of Final Cut X. Maybe it's just me but when composing to picture I really appreciate a smoother and darker skin to concentrate on the important parts of my work. Why is everything so gray. Oh and S1 has the same issue it's a bit ugly on the eye |

| Logic 9 is great ...... actually since I write music for commercials , never went back to pro tools for "audio editing" ......really!!!!
I don't want to move back to pro tools again....i wanna stay logic ...i just wish logic x doesn't turn into a shitty app for iphone.....
I'd like to see improved audio post feautures in logic X .. please...
Better mixer (groups) , new samples , loops , BIGGER letters, I'm getting blind.
thanks

I would like to have a possibility to "overlapped region to new tracks" for just one source track, so 1 source track and destination tracks as needed. Now it works for all tracks (at least I haven't found a possibility to restrict it).

Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk | just in case you missed this- you can move the busses - you have to make them viewable in the arrange window (right click on the bus in the mixer and you have the option to do so), then you can move it around wherever you want from within the arrange page.

Any other daw lets you select multiple tracks and move them. In logic you have to re-arrange every track one by one.
Ive used a workaround in the past. But you have to create regions on all tracks and pack them into a region folder, then move that folder up or downwards in your session and unpack it. Thats for sure cumbersome.
I am pretty sure the next version of logic will address this. |

If Apple updates the 'realtime audio audio engine', so it can take advantage of more than one processor, I'm happy.
