Yes it will. What are you running now? Is there some technical reason you want/need to do it?

I just switched over my G4 Mirror door 1GHZ to Tiger and PT (HD2 Accel) 6.92 with no problems at all. Seems to run fine, though I'm not sure if I gained anything. Where are you on Maui?

Hi I was chatting with one of Londons top programmers last week who himself has stayed with Logic 6.4.3 for now(G4/OS10/ptHD)..he says that Logis 7 is much more hungry and really requires a G5 to work most effectively if a high track and instrument count is crucial. Just thought I might mention this.. |

I use a G5 Dual 2.3 LP7/Tiger though, but I also have a G4 Dual 867 running LP7/Tiger.

How about a 933 Quicksilver? I'd like to jump on PT7/Tiger with my HD2 setup. Give me hope, guys! ruudman |

Of course, it all depends on what you're going to be running. But basically, no. Check out the minimum specs for most stuff today (ranging from sequencers to plug-ins), minimum is a G4 Dual 867 for realistic purposes. | |

There is hope! I have a 933 and upgraded to the Gigadesigns Dual 1.33 in March. Brilliant!! I'm running and HD4 Accel system 16 hours a day, and am beyond happy with the results. I think it was only 500 bucks or so. The head tech at Gigadesigns used to work for Digi, and still runs PT himself. He has successfully installed these upgrades in several major rigs in LA and NY and not a glitch. Because of caching levels, don't get sucked into a faster processor - the dual 1.33 has everything PT likes to see. Woohoooooo...!! I AM NOT AFFILIATED WITH ANY OF THE ABOVE. I am just happy. peace mixboy |

I use Logic Pro 7.1.1 with Tiger on a Dual 1.25 ghz G4 Processor Power Mac. It runs very smooth.

Thanks Dave thumbsup You came up with the right words! I guess it comes down to how much native processing I need. But with the new RTAS multiprocessor solutions in PT7, I'm tempted to upgrade. ruudman |

I run 10.4.2 on an even older 733MHz single processor Quicksilver. As well as a G4 cube with a Sonnet 1.2HGz upgrade processor. The only problems I have are that after the computer has been on for some time, and certain applications have been opened, it doesn't like to go to sleep, and then upon waking up the monitor and screensaver, it's sluggish for several minutes. I don't, however, run ilLogic or Pro Fools. But when I do need to use my audio apps, I just do a quick restart to put the system back in order. Daniel |
