| Is Anyone Using a Hackintosh Netbook to Run Garageband?
While doing some research into buying a mac I stumbled across the concept of hackintosh. Before I launch into my questions, I will explain my position. Basically I am looking to buy a Mac in the near future. I was initially thinking of getting a Macbook Pro or Mac Mini so that I can take it with me when I work away.
Having stumbled upon the hackintosh concept it seems that if I could get a cheap hackintoshed Dell Mini 9 and get it work for me I could use the money I would spend on a Macbook Pro and use it to buy a much better spec'd iMac that I could leave at home and I could take the Mini 9 away with me.
During further research it appears that in order to fit garageband on the smaller screen of the Mini 9 you need to use Garageband '08 which isn't a problem for me.
So now to the questions....
Is there anyone here that has successfully used a hackintoshed netbook for audio recording using Garageband?
Does the atom processor and small amount of RAM keep up if you're recording one track at a time and maybe having a max of 8 or so tracks? I would probably use the plug-ins from Garageband for most of the tracks, but if need be I could get a cheap multi-effects unit and record direct.
Anything else I should know?
