Logic Crashing G5

I have a dual 2.7 g5 with 8 gb of ram, metric halo uln2, powercore, and two uad cards, lately its been crashing all the time, i have no clue as to the cause of the crashes, it didnt used to crash and i cant think of any major software changes etc, it seems to hate the space designer reverb and the powercore, also safari and osx crash at times,m very frustrating. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I gave away the old computers and am awaiting the new internet one, meanwhile, my DAW is on my dual 2.0 G G5 and I have to access the web on the same machine (kind of an experiment, no critical projects running or anything, right now, so no matta.

But since I've loaded up 10.4.2 I've been seeing Safari crash upon launch just about every time (I had been using an older computer on the internet, and I hadn't installed Tiger on it; so I wasn't aware of the Safari thing; have been using Tiger with PTLE 6.9.2 for a while, though. Mail is another one that crashes on launch a lot, too.

A few other applications crash upon launch as well, but they don't crash at any other time, and I've not had the OS crash.

Have you tried re-installing the OS? I try to keep my stuff arranged so that a clean install is pretty trouble-free. I think a clean install is always good for the old OS; seems that an archive and install doesn't do as much good.

BTW, what OS are you using?

I'd give it a try without Powercore and UAD cards. My Logic doesn't crash my G5.

Indeed, you can only search the fault this way. Step by step making the setup more complex again. FWIW, Logic is rocksolid on my G5 for 2 years now already, and i've always updated to latest OS, as well as been using the same computer for surfing/mail/chat/... at once (while Logic is running). I don't use any DSPdongles tho.

I run:
Logic 7.1, OSX 10.4.2,
dual 2.0 G5, 2.5g Ram,
lots of plugins but no powercore or uad cards.
it never crashes. very hardy system.

actually, the 2 times it ever crashed in the last 3 months
was always because of PSP Nitro.

Yep I agree, logic 7.1 on 10.4.2 is quite solid. I use a UAD as well and that seems fine as
well. G5 2.5ghz 8gb ram. Only crashes ive had in tha past were from dodgy plugins... i tend to hammer them now before I buy just in case now.

Reinstall the os, trash logic prefs, trash poco and uad prefs, reinstall logic, trash soundcard prefs, reinstall drivers

That should do ya.
