Thread Starter | M-Audio Project Mix I/O
Hi Guys, Been lurking here for a loooong time...so its nice to finally join up. Anyway, I thought this was interesting and no one has posted about yet. Just saw it on macmusic.org. There is a picture if you follow the link. http://www.macmusic.org/news/view.php/lang/EN/id/3676/ Here is the scoop: M-Audio announces for the end of October the new Project Mix I/O, a FireWire audio interface and motorized mixing surface. This new product with a "Digi 002 face" will feature 8 powered micro/line inputs (1/4, XLR, peak led), 8 ADAT inputs and outputs, one S/PDIF in/out, one high level instrument input, 4 outputs (1/4), MIDI In/Out, 2 headphones outputs with level control, Word Clock In/Out, 8 motorized faders, 8 assignable encoders, 1 master fader, a Jog Wheel, LED screen, locators, support for Mackie Control-Logic Control-HUI protocols. |

It would be nice if the introduced something like this without the audio capabilities, at, say, half the price. The mixing surface section of this seems a lot more professional and better than the Behringer fader controller.

There was a picture and details on that link but I guess it was all pulled. It didn't look as pretty as a Digi002 though.

This is the best I could find, off of some French site. Sorry so small. Macmusic yanked that announcement, interesting. -Matt |

Hopefully that means M-Audio has some more stuff to show and they didn't want any of it leaking out yet.

What type of I/O are we talkin' here? Looks nice, not as ugly as 002, Command 8... |

I don't think it would be so much. Usually American products are more expensive outside of the USA. I think that if it's MSRP €1300 EUR expect it around $900-$1000 USD street price or better.

But every kind of quasi-cool control surface that has come out in the last year also has audio I/O. Oh, well. My choices right now are either the Mackie Control or the Tascam US-2400. | |

I just want a cool looking control surface like the command 8 but has native support for Protools HD and Hui. Does this one have this ability? I want to be able to use it for logic, finalcut etc.. and Protools.. not sure why the command 8 isn't HUI compatible it would just make them more money. This device is similar looking so maybe this will work.

For the price quoted above, they ought to give 4 to 8 independent headphone mixes for the talent.
