Simple VST audio track / SFX cueing and playback plugin

Hi,

Is there a VSI instrument available that will load files and play them back on "cue"?

I work in music theatre and need a program to play back tracks and sound effects within my VST host (Brainspawn Forte), but I don't really want to use up the CPU loading Cubase and ReWiring it in or using a full blown soft sampler like Kontakt or Giga.

The best thing to do would just be loading them up in a drum sampler.

I think Computer Music magazine comes with one on thier cover CD. Just load up your samples into the thing, give it a midi track, and then hit the right note.

I don't even think I need to make as complicated as assigning MIDI tracks and triggering from the keyboard - the PC will be just to my right so I can just press play...

One other way of doing it that occured to me was to resurrect my old PIII 500 and just have Adobe Audition on it (multitrack, so we can have a click track too), then send the outputs to inputs on my main FW-1084 to mix... It's another system, but it saves wasting CPU that could be used on softsynths on trck playback...
